90s Con came and conquered this past weekend in Hartford, Connecticut. The decade-themed pop culture convention was the first of its kind and featured celebrity guests, panels, merchandise, and immersive experiences that would make anyone who grew up in the 90s feel like a kid again.
I don’t feel that I’m exaggerating when I say that this was one of the best days of my life.
Check out our review and favorite moments from attending 90s Con:
For Your Entertainment
That’s4Entertainment, a company self-described as a group of best friends coming together to create meaningful and memorable experiences for fans and celebrity talent, certainly lives up to its promise. My familiarity with That’s4Entertainment stems from Christmas Con, a holiday-themed convention that gave fans a way to meet some of their favorite stars in a smaller setting. What I loved was how it set itself apart from massive, overly produced and stressfully crowded conventions like New York Comic-Con or San Diego Comic-Con.
Christmas Con and 90s Con are for the fans. Not the outlets looking to break news and cover upcoming projects where everyone has something to promote. This is for you and me. As dramatic as it sounds, this was a way to do things differently and make memories to last a lifetime. And in my case, to make dreams come true.
90s Con – Strike A Pose
Once you step through the doors of 90s Con, you are thrown decades back into a time where the colors were vibrant and the music was poppin’. My eyes didn’t know where to look first. A mini flea market of vendors greets you with merchandise and products for every interest. Artists and prop replicas of everything from Sesame Street to costumes worn by the Spice Girls line the room before you step into a truly immersive experience.
The Photo Ops were such a fun way to start the day. Any 90s kid who grew up watching Nickelodeon always wanted to sit on The Big Orange Couch on Saturday night when SNICK was airing and let’s be real, we all wanted to be slimed. 90s Con made it happen. Ever wanted to sit in an actual Delorean? Here’s your chance.
Celebrity Cast Reunions
Reunions that included castmates from Full House, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Hocus Pocus, Boy Meets World, Mrs. Doubtfire, Back to the Future, and more were enough to make me book it to 88mph and get to 90s Con as fast as I could.

90s Con absolutely did not hold back when it came to the celebrity guest list. Attending ticket holders were able to meet celebrities they only ever dreamed of. Our inner 12-year-olds deserved this opportunity to meet Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys and Joey Fatone of *NSYNC. Adult me deserved this opportunity to finally meet Scott Weinger and tell him how much Aladdin meant to me. 90s Con made it happen.
This was a fun and memorable experience for the talent too. It was so wonderful to people-watch and observe how kind and generous with their time the celebrities were. Every interaction I have ever had with Will Friedle has been above and beyond and so filled with a genuine and pure kindness that I never forget a moment.
Nick Carter pledged to change his flight until he met every attendee that wanted to meet him. The Lawrence Brothers (Joey, Andy, and Matt) were eager to share past memories with fans and humored us as we sang together. We loved reminiscing with Joey Lawrence and Melissa Joan Hart about our time covering Melissa & Joey and the fun we had together at ABC Family’s Winter Wonderland.
Christopher Lloyd was unstoppable. I saw many celebrities taking numerous breaks, as they should of course, but I swear this man never stopped engaging with his fans. When I had my opportunity, all I could muster was a sincere “I love you” and seeing him turn and smile before putting his arm around me is something I will never forget.
Lea Thompson helped create a core memory for my group. Not only was she incredibly patient and generous with her time when I rambled on about how much we loved Switched at Birth here at Pop City Life, but she can sang. Not sing. The girl can sang and started belting her fan-favorite song from Howard the Duck with no hesitation.
Core Memories
I left 90s Con able to say that I met and spoke to Aladdin, Thackery Binx, and Winnie the Pooh. I hugged Nick Carter and Christopher Lloyd. I finally met DJ, Kimmy, Steve, and Uncle Joey! These are things I had only dreamed were maybe possible. We have not had an easy few years, any of us. This was the break from reality we all needed. I can’t remember the last time I smiled so much. I couldn’t stop thinking and talking about the entire experience for days to anyone I spoke to… whether they asked to hear about it or not I might add.
The only negatives are that it had to end. But fear not! That’s4Entertainment has just announced that 90s Con will be returning in 2023! More details to come but if their first foray into a decade-themed convention is any indication, we are in for a wild and crazy ride.
Were you able to visit and experience 90s Con? Who would you love to see added to the guest list next time? Would you love to see other decades, like an 80s Con?
My fingers are crossed for both an 80s and 90s Con to make their way onto the playing field. The possibilities are endless. That’s4Entertainment has proven they are a welcome addition to the convention world and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
Thank you so much to everyone at That’s4Entertainment for inviting us out and making this an amazing experience!
