Is the Lone Ranger the proof that Johnny Depp needs to stop working with Disney? According to the result of the Lone Ranger it seems that yes, maybe.
Announced as one of the blockbusters of this summer, the latest Disney movie seems to stumble at the box office. During its opening weekend, it just earned $29.4 million while in a week; it only earned $48.9 million in North America. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney could face a $150 million loss. Not a situation the studio had imagined as the Lone ranger was supposed to be one the latest high-profile movie of this summer.

In a groundbreaking move for the network, the Disney Channel is set to feature a same sex couple in an upcoming new episode of Good Luck Charlie. As part of the show’s final season, an episode will feature a playdate with Charlie with another child that has two moms. The show is casting for the part now with production expected to begin next week. The episode is slated to air in early 2014.
This is a fantastic move by Disney. The network previously featured a teen with two moms as part of their “Make Your Mark” campaign.

Walt Disney Animation Studios presents Frozen. The studio behind past hits like Wreck-It Ralph and Tangled have begun promoting the big screen animated comedy. The movie will feature the voice talents of Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff, and Idina Menzel. While not quite what I was expecting, the kids will love this one. The animation already reminds me of movies like Ice Age and Tangled. Those were both huge hits.
The movie is expected to hit theaters this Winter with a release date of November 27th.

Great news for fans of the classic series Boy Meets World. Girl Meets World, the sequel series, has just been ordered to series by the Disney Channel. Production on the show is set to take place this Summer with a premiere date sometime next year. Various cast members from the original series are slated to appear.

Is Jason Segel behind this? Or perhaps this is just his dream come true. With Aladdin coming to Broadway in 2014, Disney Theatrical Productions is exploring the idea of bringing The Muppets to the stage. The talks are in the early stages but on May 31st a handful of people involved with the potential project put on a showcase to determine whether or not a live stage show with Muppets would be possible.
