Read on for our exclusive interview with Jacqueline Scislowski below:
What would you say initially motivated you to pursue acting as a career? Was there anyone who influenced or inspired you?
My way into the industry was very early on and very random. I was 3 years old when my mom was approached by a photographer who suggested she should look into getting me into modeling/print work! I started working, doing photoshoots for American Girl and Kohl’s to name a couple, some commercials and student films! I would say at the age of 5 when doing my first student full-length film, was when I got hooked and couldn’t imagine life without always being on a set!
Growing up I had so many inspirations, I loved all things comedy, so Dick Van Dike, I love Lucy, Abbott and Costello, and Jim Carrey were a few huge inspirations of mine. I also absolutely idolized Sandra Bullock (Speed), Kate Hudson, Julie Andrews, Julia Roberts, and so so many more! To this day I constantly study their movies and shows, as well as try to watch tons of classics even as far back as Elizabeth Taylor films!
Can you tell us a little about your role as Zoey Reeves in Power Rangers Beast Morphers and what viewers can expect from them as a character?
Zoey starts as the laundry girl at Grid Battle Force, after having trained to become a Battle Force cadet but not quite cutting it. This never stopped her; she was determined to find any way to help look out for her community and the environment. Zoey is ambitious, determined, and courageous. When the opportunity came to take on the role of the Yellow Ranger, she conquered her fears and got straight to work! You can expect nothing but resilience from Zoey, she’s always thinking on her toes and trying to look out for her team!
What can you tease about what viewers can expect from Power Rangers Beast Morphers? What are you most eager for the audience to see in the upcoming episodes?
Moving into season 2 you will get to see a lot more into Zoey’s personal life and the bonds that have been created between the rangers! You will also get to see a lot more rivalries between the rangers and the evil avatars which bring with it even more epic fight scenes! I’m excited for fans to see where season 2 takes all of us rangers, it’s unexpected!
What are your hopes for your character as the season progresses? What would you love to get the chance to do or see in an upcoming episode?
We have already finished filming all of season 2. That being said, a few Zoey focused episodes have yet to air, which will have some really fun adventures and storylines shown, which were such a blast to film!
The Power Rangers has become an iconic franchise that has been around for decades. What does it mean for you to be apart of something so beloved around the world?
Because of how impactful and special this franchise is to so many generations, being the Yellow Ranger didn’t just end once we wrapped. Continuing to inspire, support, and motivate the fans – as Zoey does on the show – I try to do with my platforms every day. It’s truly a special feeling knowing I am a superhero in the eyes of our young audience, and that is something I don’t take lightly. I am so proud to be a part of showing young girls and boys how to feel courageous, confident, and inspired! It felt like big shoes to fill once finding out I had gotten this role, but if anything, it added fire to my determination to make this the best season of Power Rangers yet, for the new fans and the OG fans as well.
Relatedly, Power Rangers Beast Morphers was just nominated for a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award. How did you react when you found out the series was nominated for Favorite Kids Show?
I was blown away! It’s a huge honor and I know the whole cast and crew are so proud! We all had a lot of nerves and huge ambitions for Beast Morphers and to see all our hard work and passion be reciprocated by the fans is amazing. So exciting!
Power Rangers Beast Morphers is now streaming on Netflix. What are some of your favorite movies and series to binge-watch on a night in?
I am obsessed with New Girl, Nick is my favorite character! I also have been super into Scandal and Schitt’s Creek!
Finally, what else are you working on? What can fans look forward to from you next?
I just wrapped two feature films! One is called the Root of Perfection which is a very Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind type of movie that I had an absolute blast filming! It’s very unique and quirky, a cool sort of change from Power Rangers, but my character Caroline reminded me of Zoey a little. The other film is called Top of The Class! This one is a Lifetime movie where my character Nicole is working towards becoming Valedictorian until she finds herself tangled up in a murder investigation!
