It’s been a while since Boston’s premier crime-fighting duo graced our screens – four months, in fact, as Rizzoli & Isles 6×12 aired on Sept. 1 of last year. There’s good news and bad news: Although Rizzoli & Isles season 6B doesn’t kick off on TNT until Feb. 16, the network has started running promos to give us an idea of what to expect when the series returns.
It’s been a hell of a year, TV-wise. Some shows’ ratings dipped while others soared. We said goodbye to some old favorites and welcomed some new ones into our hearts. We laughed, we cried, we yelled at our screens – and now, as 2015 draws to a close, we’re gearing up to do it all again in the new year. This week’s episode of Rizzoli & Isles was the last of the year. Is season 6 over so soon? Well, yes and no. Although Rizzoli & Isles 6×12 was the summer finale, there are six episodes left of the season – but they won’t air until February 2016, per executive producer Jan Nash. TL;DR, this episode’s cliffhanger will be hanging for a while. Read on for our recap!
After last week’s Kent/Maura kiss, Rizzoli & Isles writer Katie Wech declared via Twitter that the coupling of the two title characters is “actually the last ship.” Wech penned Rizzoli & Isles 6×11, which featured said title characters jetting off on a romantic getaway to Los Angeles… wherein “romantic getaway” is a synonym for “crime investigation.” Baby steps.
