The duo investigate the latest Person of Interest who can be described as a man on the verge of collapse. He’s lost his job and can’t catch a break. When Finch discovers death threats to a local congressman in his email, they decide to act. They realize that the man is being set up to take the fall for the congressman’s assassination. Unfortunately, Reese isn’t able to get to the real shooter in time. The congressman is killed and the POI is taken in for murder.
Finch realizes that an incredibly skilled hacker is responsible for the entire thing. He tries to manipulate his way into the hacker’s network but ends up putting himself in a trap. Finch and Reese have to destroy their phones and hang out in hotels and the library for the time being. Realizing they’re a tad screwed, Finch enlists the help of Zoe. Zoe manages to figure out that the congressman’s business partner more than likely wanted him dead. She lends her skills, which apparently in this episode are nothing more than a conversation, and manages to get the proof they need. While all of this is happening, Reese is off kicking ass in a subway bathroom while wearing a hoody. I approve.
Finch gets a call from the creepy hacker and for one wild moment I thought he was in cahoots with her. But then when the hacker contacts him again, she calls herself Root and considers Finch an opponent. Who is she? Does she think what they’re doing is a game or a competition?
The girls mull over the latest findings from the videos. They made the decision to shut Hanna out and bring Caleb in. Will A make them regret it? Will Hanna? Poor Hanna thinks the girls are ignoring her and freezing her out when they start to lie about hanging together and begin to dodge her calls. They’re only trying to work with Caleb in secret but she doesn’t know that. A knows that. And A threatens Hanna to make Caleb stop or her mom’s secret about stealing the bank money will be told.
Caleb is able to uncover what appears to be a secret fake id of a brunette Alison from her secret box. Hanna has a memory of seeing Alison in a hair salon wearing a brown wig. Is it really Alison? And why is she pretending to be Vivienne Darkbloom? And what is the claim ticket for?
Hanna isn’t having a good day. Kate is now at her school and Spencer is convinced she’s seen her before. She recognizes her from a summer camp Melissa used to work for. Apparently she was unpopular and had a lot of bug bites. Who cares? I’m getting major Lucy Caboosey vibes here. Spencer warns Kate that she’ll reveal who she ~used to be if she’s ever anything but nice to Hanna. Spencer is such a good friend. A isn’t. A somehow gets a naked picture of Kate in the locker room and sends it from Hanna’s phone to the whole school. That really isn’t going to go over well with Daddy.
Hanna’s day gets worse when she finds out the girls are working with Caleb behind her back. She cries and opens up to Caleb about her mom stealing the money and how someone is anonymously blackmailing her. Caleb goes to Jenna’s house to presumably tell her to back off and Garrett shows up literally guns blazing. Whatever Garrett. Caleb could take you. Apparently it’s illegal to knock on someone’s door because Garrett practically runs Caleb over. What an abuse of power. Dude is losing his mind.
In storylines no one cares about news: Emily’s mother is back in town and wants to have dinner with her and Maya. I can’t tell if Maya is high or stupid at this dinner but she’s not smooth. She makes a few pot jokes and talks about her ex boyfriend. Emily is less than pleased. But later on they tell each other they love each other so I guess it’s okay. Aria is keeping Ezra a secret from her friends again. Season 1 flashback! She’s spending more time with Holden who has a secret of his own. Not gay? Then I don’t care. He has a huge bruise on his torso and my friend is quick to point out it looks like he got hit by a car. Hanna’s car maybe? That would be incredibly lame so I’m hoping not. I’m not even sure why we’re spending so much time on this kid and his secret. He’s been in town for like two days.
Fitz gets a job offer that Byron set up that would have him leaving for Louisiana in a few days. He really doesn’t want that man doing his daughter. The end of the episode is quite the shocker in the way that it ups the game completely. A isn’t playing around anymore. They go into Spencer’s dad’s desk (why can they just waltz right in? Does NO ONE have security in this town?) and takes out a GUN. Uhoh. Who is getting shot? My money was on Caleb after he learned so much about A. However, after the news that Tyler was just made a series regular, I’m ready to say goodbye to Garrett.
Have a seat on your magic carpet everyone and get ready to learn about Sidney’s time as the Genie of the lamp! We’re also about to learn just how The Evil Queen got out of her marriage to Snow’s father. Get ready Genie. You aint never had a friend like her.
The Genie’s lamp is discovered by Snow’s father. He is so happy in his own life that he uses his wishes to grant the Genie’s freedom. His second wish is to transfer his last wish over to the Genie. Wow. What a nice guy. He leaves to stay with the King in his kingdom where he meets The Queen. Trapped in an unhappy marriage she’s willing to kill herself to escape it. When the King suspects that the Queen has been unfaithful to him, her father begs the Genie to help set her free. He offers to kill the King for her. He succeeds and happily goes to be with the Queen forever. Unfortunately, she’s about to rain on his parade. She set him up for the murder and was using him the whole time. Bitch is EVIL. He refuses to let her get away and uses his last wish to be with her forever. Fine print? He’s now trapped in a mirror.
Sidney goes to Emma wanting help revealing Regina’s corrupt ways. Emma doesn’t agree until Sidney tells her Regina hired him to follow her and Henry. She knew about Henry’s play castle all along and knowingly tore it down to hurt him. Oh yeah. She tore it down. And also? Henry’s book is now missing. They bug Regina’s office and find out that she’ll be paying off Rumply in a secret place in the woods for an unknown reason. While driving there, Emma’s brakes go out.
They realize she’s been using city money to build something in the woods and go to a town meeting to expose her. She reveals that she’s building a playground for the children to play safely thus, making Emma look like an idiot. Who didn’t see that one coming? And can I just say, that is the lamest playground I have ever seen. For 50 grand they could get some swings or a jungle gym or something sheesh. It is then revealed that Sidney has been working for Regina all along and is now lying to Emma. He is the one who cut her brakes. Gasp. Jerk!
In other news, Mary and David are now carrying on their affair with romantic picnics in the woods. I can’t say I’m thrilled with this development. Cheating isn’t very romantic even if they’re meant to be together. He should break it off with his wife first. As for the whereabouts of Henry’s book? It is now in the hands of the Mysterious Stranger.
Melody springs on Emmett that she can’t help him pay for his $5000 fine and he can’t ask his dad for it either. In order to pay the fine, she suggests that he sell his beloved motorcycle. Bay is upset because she believes that it’s her fault and Daphne can’t let him sell something so important to him. Together, they try to come up with the money to help their friend. Daphne tries selling 5 dollar cupcakes but that really isn’t cutting it. Daphne gets another unpleasant surprise when Wilke doesn’t want to be her friend anymore. He likes you girl!
Daphne brings up the obvious solution: The Parents. Why can’t they just ask for the money? Well, they can. But odds are they won’t pay for the motorcycle that they hate. Daphne comes up with a lie to get the check. She lies about losing her hearing aids and says insurance won’t cover it. They’re more than happy to help her out but she feels terrible about it. It’s not long before Regina finds out about it and demands that she return the money. Daphne confesses to Katharyn who, in my opinion, is overreacting. She apologized and returned the money. She’s your daughter. Cut her some slack.
Regina and Angelo take the next step in purchasing the salon and going into business together. John, while unsure about Angelo’s past, goes to confront him about it. While there, John lets slip that Regina knew all along that the girls were switched. Angelo is pissed. He and Regina fight but thankfully, in the end, he doesn’t leave. He doesn’t want to leave again and wants to be in their lives. Then they kiss. Yay!
The cliffhanger of the night happens when unfortunately, Emmett has to sell his bike. Then he tells Melody that he’s moving out to go live with his dad. Gasp. I kind of hope he does it. She’s so horrible.
Pretty Little Liars fans who love the mystery will love this episode. Pretty Little Liars fans who love the relationships..well..you may be a little frustrated right now. But at least one couple stopped traffic. This episode started off great and dove right in to the mystery. The girls go over the latest of the video that Caleb was able to uncover from A’s phone. So far, they have video of Ian (yay Ryan Merriman is back!) setting up a hidden camera in Ali’s room. Before you groan at how gross he is, that’s not what he’s up to this time.
He wants to record the conversation he’s about to have with Garrett and Jenna about Alison so they can’t back out. It seems like they’re plotting about Ali having possession of the videos and Jason is passed out somewhere. Garrett opens Ali’s box and notices something weird inside. Whatever it is, we don’t get to see. OF COURSE. Caleb is getting a little tired watching suspicious and creepy videos and not knowing what’s going on. When Hanna freaks out about what he knows, she throws the flash drive of the new videos he’s uncovered into a blender. NOOO HANNA! Thankfully, Caleb is one of the only people on this show with a brain and has made a copy. He’ll show it to the girls and continue to help them if they hide it from Hanna and tell him what’s going on. They give him a Reader’s Digest version of events and basically just tell him Garrett and Jenna are trying to frame them for Ali’s murder.
There’s a lot of lying going on in this episode. Spencer comes to the decision to lie to Toby about how she feels when A takes the next step and hurts Toby after Spencer fails to stay away from him. Toby falls from the tampered scaffolding and breaks his arm. He’s lucky that’s all that happened. Spencer begs Emily to tell Toby that she’s seeing Wren again. Wren is up front with Toby and tells him he kissed her when they were on a break. Friends flashbacks anyone? Toby threatens to kick his ass. LOL. Whatever Toby. He then gives Spencer back the truck she bought him and disappears. I want to care more but I don’t.
The girls look at their box of Ali stuff and discover the threatening notes from A that Alison had been hiding. Flashback to Halloween when someone had vandalized Ali’s porch. I’m more interested in the random line that Spencer says. When Hanna asks her if Melissa and Ian are going to get married Spencer replies “Probably. They’re perfect for each other.” This just stuck out to me especially after last week. Could Melissa be just as crazy as Ian? Are they going down the twin route here with Ali?
Mona and Hanna rekindle their friendship after Noel is a massive douche to Mona in the hallway. Mona makes some comment about Noel’s eyes (EYES!) and Jenna starts having dinner with him. Hmmm. Can’t Jenna see? Didn’t she just leave for eye surgery? Is she still recovering? The girls are more interested in questioning Holden’s sexuality. He confirms to Aria that he isn’t gay but he is hiding something. If the secret isn’t him being gay and in love with Aria’s brother, I have lost all interest in his character all together. Ezra agrees to meet Aria at a bus stop in the rain somewhere where Fitz parks his car in the middle of traffic so they can make out in the rain. Dude, you’re so gonna get a ticket for that one.
Catch up on seasons 1 and 2 of Pretty Little Liars!
