Firstly, congratulations on the release of your exciting new EP “Yes, Please”! How does it feel to finally be sharing this with your fans?
It is so exciting to finally have this project out in the world! I have been working on it for a while now and it is so amazing to see these songs resonating with so many listeners.
Can you talk a little bit about what inspired you to pursue music as a career?
I have always loved music and performing. My mom says I started singing before I could talk. Growing up and living in New York City gave me such a deep appreciation for the arts. I was fortunate to be exposed to so many opportunities, from singing and dance lessons and acting programs. The city also provided me with so many performance opportunities at a young age. I always believed entertainment was a feasible career path for me.
How would you describe your sound to someone thinking of listening for the first time?
I would describe my sound as anthemic, organic, and uplifting pop music. I create music that lends itself to live performances which means incorporating a lot of real instruments. I write my own lyrics so my songs sound authentic and speak to how I am feeling. They incorporate my stories and tend to send a message to the listener.
Who are some of your musical influences when the time comes to create your music?
I grew up listening to the pop divas of the 2000s who empowered me to use my voice through my music. Artists like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne, and Britney Spears all really influenced my music growing up and to this day. I also love Bruno Mars whose infectious energy shines through in all his music, which is so amazing.
What can your fans expect from “Yes, Please”? How would you say it compares to your previous releases?
Fans can expect to hear a lot of my personal stories and experiences in a fierce and retro way. My “Yes, Please” EP is inspired by the music I listened to growing up, pulling heavily on influences from the 60s. It differs from my last EP with its emphasis on a throwback feel, but it continues my message of empowerment through telling my own truth.
Can you talk a little about why it’s important for you to share your story with your listeners and make that heartfelt connection?
I hope to make people feel less alone in what they are experiencing by sharing my personal experiences and stories through my music. I find music such a strong force of connection that brings so many people together. I’ve witnessed firsthand how music can make us all come together and find common ground regardless of who we are or where we are from.
Do you have any plans to tour or perform live to promote your new music?
Yes! I have been performing at various events over the past couple of months and hope to embark on a tour in the foreseeable future. I can’t wait to perform this new body of work as well as my last debut EP which was released in March 2020 during the pandemic.
It sounds like many exciting opportunities are headed your way! What else are you working on? What can your fans look forward to from you next?
I am really looking forward to what lies ahead. I have already been busy in the studio working on new music which I am very excited about. I also plan to focus again on my acting career, and I am eager to explore new projects in that space as well.
