If you’re a fan of Just Add Magic, you won’t want to miss this: Olivia Sanabia (a.k.a. Kelly on the Amazon original series) is turning her attention to the new Disney Channel show Coop & Cami Ask the World. Ahead of the sitcom’s Oct. 12 premiere, we spoke with the 15-year-old about joining the Disney family, her singing and acting inspirations, her philanthropic work and more. Read on for our interview with Olivia Sanabia.
What motivated you to initially pursue acting? Is there anyone who influenced or inspired you?
Olivia Sanabia: I have always loved to sing and perform, so when I was about 6, I started musical theater. I soon fell in love and knew that I love acting just as much as singing, so I asked my parents to pursue the acting industry. I was inspired by the movie Ramona and Beezus. As soon as I saw the movie (at the age of 7), I knew that’s what I wanted to do in my own life.
In addition to Amazon’s Just Add Magic, you can be seen in the new Disney Channel series Coop & Cami Ask the World. Can you tell us a little about your character and what attracted you to the role?
Yes! I am super excited to share what we’ve been making on Coop & Cami Ask the World! I play Charlotte, the oldest of the Wrather siblings. She is headstrong, high-spirited, and passionate! When she starts something, she will do whatever it takes to see it through. She also loves to sing and perform! I was attracted to the role because growing up, I was a huge Disney Channel fan, and I was so excited to be a part of that magic for families around the world.
How did you react when you learned you would be joining the Disney family? Would you say you were a Disney fan before joining the series?
I was ecstatic when I heard the news, but we had to keep the project secret, so I couldn’t share my excitement with anyone! I was just screaming inside for a couple of months! Yes, I was definitely a Disney fan prior to the show. It played a big role in my growing up, and I am very grateful for that.
What can viewers expect from Coop & Cami Ask the World? What are you most excited for people to see?
Viewers can expect to see lots of fun from Coop & Cami Ask the World. There will never be a moment where you will be bored watching the show, as we are never bored when filming! You can expect to see stunts, gags, and also so many sweet family moments.
How was your experience working alongside the cast? Are there any fun memories that stick out for you from filming?
I have had such a great time working on this show with the awesome cast and crew I’m surrounded by! We are always laughing and goofing off! There are so many memories, but one of my favorites is getting to film in the fake snow. We got to wear hats, snow boots, jackets, etc. and it really felt like winter!

I am working on producing music right now. I love music and it is something I am always working at to get better. I love posting covers on my
How has the fan support been for you so far? Do you enjoy interacting with fans on social media?
My fans are amazing and so supportive! I love seeing the Just Add Magic edits – and now the Coop & Cami Ask the World edits – that they create! I love getting to talk with them through social media. I feel so special when a fan says that I made them smile. That makes the job more than worth it!
You also volunteer your time for the organization Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. Can you talk a little about that and why it was important to you to get involved?
It was so important to me to get involved with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer because they raise money for pediatric cancer research. Kids have a special place in my heart, therefore I am passionate about helping kids who have to go through something as terrible as this. It is an amazing foundation that I encourage everyone to participate in.
What else are you working on? What can your fans look forward to from you next?
Fans can look forward to another season of Amazon’s Just Add Magic coming soon! I’m very excited for this upcoming season! I also have some other projects coming up that I can’t wait to share!
