We had the chance to speak with Jordi Whitworth about his music career following his time on X-Factor, a possible tour in the future, and branching out into acting with his new movie appearance.
Read on for our exclusive interview with Jordi Whitworth below:
To start off, can you talk a little about what initially inspired you to pursue music? What is it that you love most about it?
I never had huge aspirations to want to pursue a career in music, but once I was scouted for the boy band Overload, I found it was a secret passion of mine. And now I don’t want to look back!
Who or what are some of your musical influences? Is there anyone you would love to collaborate with someday?
I have a lot of influence from the old-school Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC days, but I also am a big fan of The Weeknd and Ariana Grande. I think they are great artists who have really found their styles.
In addition to your other credits, you can be seen in E4’s Stage School. Would you ever consider pursuing acting as a profession?
Of course, I love acting and putting myself in someone else’s shoes for the day.
When comparing working in music or television, what do you enjoy most about both?
Music is amazing – and as a soloist, everything is now my own ideas and decisions. With acting on TV, it’s about putting yourself into someone else’s perspective and putting on a different personality, which is a wicked feeling.
Do you have any plans to tour and promote your music in the future?
Yes, I look forward to 2018 for touring in the U.K. and also the U.S.!
Following your time on X-Factor and as a member of Overload, are there things that excite you to do as a solo artist moving forward? What do you think the biggest difference will be for you?
Being able to be more creative with the music and it being my music excites me a lot, and I look forward to everyone knowing me and my music for me, not for being in a band. I’m looking forward to what’s to come.
How would you describe the sound or genre of your music to someone hearing it for the first time?
I would say my sound is very pop/R&B and it’s going to be very relatable but also fun.
How has the fan support been for you so far? Do you enjoy interacting with fans on social media?
They have been amazing and forever will be. I can’t thank the fans enough for being so supportive of what I do in any aspect of the entertainment industry.
What else are you working on? What can your fans look forward to from you next?
I have just wrapped a feature movie called Dead Ringer, which I’m very excited about. I am also working on a lot of new music and a few opportunities coming up regarding TV, so keeping very busy – which is amazing!
