We’d like to introduce you to Broadway babe, Radio Disney alum, and budding pop star Ashlee Keating!
Ashlee has been singing almost her entire life. Growing up in Philadelphia, her breakout came at the ripe age of three, when she performed on a weekly basis with “Al Alberts TV Showcase.” In her youth, she combined her love of singing with acting, taking up musical theater and starring in numerous plays in her hometown. At the age of six, she landed the role of “Gretl” in The Sound of Music not only on Broadway, but in their National Tour as well.
In 2008, Ashlee was selected as a finalist for a Radio Disney’s Incubator Program, which not only got her songs some airplay but gave her the chance to perform at Radio Disney-sponsored concerts! Her music did so well that she was chosen to be the opening gig for many Disney stars who are now household names, like Demi Lovato and Raven-Symoné!
We recently had the chance to get to know Ashlee a little, and we’ll share our conversation with her after the jump.
She’s got a new EP coming out this year (release date to be determined), and she’s got a bunch of amazing producers on her team– people who have worked with the likes of Lady Gaga, Jessie J, Jennifer Lopez, and LL Cool J). To tide you over until the album comes out, check out the video for our favorite A.K. song, “Red Eye.” We’re loving it! Interview is below.
What originally inspired you to get into music? Has anyone influenced you?
Ashlee Keating: I always loved music. I was singing and performing from the age of three. What inspired me was when I was chosen to compete on CBS Star Search when I was 10 years old. It was my first time in Hollywood. I knew then that I wanted to pursue music and be in LA. The amazing artists who have been very successful and had long term careers have influenced me.
Would you ever go back to doing Broadway?

My favorite place is New York City. I would love to go to Oahu in Hawaii and see some of the Hawaiian islands. I’d also love to visit London and Melbourne, Australia and see my fans there as well as get to sightsee a bit.
You’ve been collaborating with some amazing talent lately. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be?
