MTV’s hit reality competition series The Challenge is currently airing it’s latest season — “Battle of the Exes 2“. This season pairs up ex-couples for the chance to win a grand prize of $350,000 dollars. This is also the first season to introduce a new twist to the game. For the first time ever, losing teams are given the chance to compete in The Ex-ile for a shot at returning to the house.
Jessica McCain has proven herself in the past to be a strong competitor. We had the chance to speak with her about being paired with Dustin this season, her time in the Ex-ile that made her sweat, and whether or not she will return for another Challenge.
Read on for our exclusive interview with Jessica McCain below:
Thank you for chatting with us again! This season, the Battle of the Exes format meant teaming you up with an ex. Was it difficult for you to work with Dustin this time around?
I think it was tough for Dustin and I only because we never had a chance to let a real relationship bloom and get to know one another. It’s hard to be in sync with someone you don’t know very well.
I was really rooting for your team this season. Did you have any strategy on Day 1? Was communication the most important thing?
I don’t think we really had a strategy, Dustin and I are just friendly and athletic. We wanted to have fun and enjoy the experience.

This season, The Challenge introduced a new twist in the game when they announced losing teams could still compete in the Exile. What was your reaction to this change in the game?
This one really messed with my head especially the roller coaster of emotions that went with it. But I felt like I had a second chance to give Dustin back a chance at the finals and be a better partner.
What would you say were the advantages and disadvantages of competing secretly in The Exile and no longer living in the house with the rest of the cast mates?
The advantage was definitely getting to learn Dustin better, you never realize how important that is until you have trust challenges. The disadvantages were the mental stress of being stuck in a house with just your partner for days on end and not knowing what’s going to happen next. It’s a long series of elimination rounds….
Your Exile Challenge was certainly different Maybe even a little gross when it came time to find the most sweat. I imagine you saw some things that are forever burned in your brain.
The Challenge was definitely gross, I’ve always been attracted to Dustin but never did I want to see his sweaty ass crack or balls. So not sexy!
Was it hard to come up with a strategy for something like that?
Sweat and don’t stop moving was the strategy. After I got sick my morale was down but Dustin was so motivating and such an amazing partner, he really kept my energy high and helped me to keep going.

Is there anything that fans didn’t get to see that you wish MTV had included? Any favorite moments from your time in the house this season?
My favorite moments were really between Dustin and I just being friends! I never realized how much fun we could have locked in a house together. We did a lot of silly things to keep ourselves entertained.
Finally, will you be back for another Challenge? What can fans look forward to from you next?
The Challenge will always have my heart as well as the fans. Big plans lie ahead of me for achieving my dreams but I will be back and I will see a final before it’s all said and done. I want the world to see there is a lot more power and guts behind this Southern Belle.
