Read on for our exclusive interview with Richard Harmon below:
What inspired you to get into acting?
Richard: I followed my sister into it after she started. Got an agent at ten and started auditioning from there
Has anyone influenced or inspired you as an actor? Is there anyone you’d love to work with someday?
There are so many people who have inspired me, the list really goes on and on. Lately though I’ve been noticing that it’s the people around me in my life that are inspiring me to be better. I’m lucky to be surrounded by a lot of hard working, talented friends.
I think it’s an understatement how busy you are right now what with starring in multiple television series and film roles. What does it mean to you to have the opportunity to live out your dream as an actor? Are you excited about what’s to come?
Thank you! It means everything to me. I have more now than I ever really imagined I would have in my career. I’m excited about where I am and I’m just going to keep my head down and hope for the best.
How has the fan support been so far? Are you enjoying interacting with your fans on social media?
The fan support has been amazing. I got free pie at McDonald’s the other day.
Continuum is airing the season finale next week. Can you talk a little about your character Julian Randol and what attracted you to the role?
I really knew nothing about Julian when the role was offered to me, just accepted it on blind faith. Good thing I did because it turned into one of my favorite roles I’ve ever played. He’s really evolved so much in the 3 seasons.
With you also starring in The 100, do you prefer the science fiction/dramatic roles? What do you enjoy most about these kind of characters?
No, I never really look at what genres the shows are, i just go out and try to have fun for myself.
Are there any particular challenges you have faced while filming in these roles?
I think each one comes with their own challenges, that’s what keeps it interesting.
What are your hopes for your character John Murphy when the series returns with season 2?
I want to learn a little bit more about him, find out some of the reasons why he is the way he is. I want to know what his thinking was.. what he was feeling, and if he learned anything. Really though I just want Murphy to be Murphy, he’s incredibly fun to play.
The 100 boasts an impressive cast list. That’s not bad company to keep! How has it been working with some of the actors?
It’s been great. We all vibe really well off of one another. The young cast is incredibly driven and competitive and the vets are always there for us to come to and learn from. It’s a really great mix.
Your upcoming film “The Age of Adaline” is another example of this. How exciting is it to say that you are starring alongside Harrison Ford? What can your fans expect from this film?
It’s an honor, truthfully. I think they can expect a very cool flick, the director (Lee Toland Krieger) knows what he’s doing
Finally, what else are you working on? What can fans expect from you next?
I just finished an episode of a new series called “The Intruders”, I don’t know when it comes out but it seems to have a ton of potential!
