Read on for our exclusive interview with Louriza Tronco below:
What inspired you to get into acting? Was it something you always wanted to do?
Louriza: When I was seven, my mom saw an ad in the newspaper; the Royal Winnipeg Ballet was looking for kids to be in their production of The Nutcracker. I didn’t really know what was going on at the time – my mom put me in a long-sleeved shirt and some dress pants. When we showed up, all the other girls were in tights and ballet shoes. Nevertheless, I put a smile on my face and did my best to pick up the choreography in my sock. I was so thrilled to hear that I got in! I think that’s when I noticed how much I love performing. From there I branched out to musical theatre productions and registered at film studio for some acting classes.
Is there anyone who has influenced or inspired you as an actor? Who would you love to work with someday, if you could pick anyone?
Oh my goodness… there are so many people who I find inspirational: classmates, friends, my acting coaches. They really encourage and push me to better myself as an actor. I have a huge list of well-respected actors I’d love to work with, but after seeing Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine – she’s definitely one of the people on the top of my list.
You’ll be starring in the new Disney Channel Original Movie “Zapped” alongside Zendaya Coleman. Can you talk a little about your character?
Yuki is not the brightest girl in the bunch, but she tries very hard. She tends to echo things that have already been said because she wants to feel more involved with what’s going on. She was very fun to play – I love making people laugh and I got to both dance and act, which is wicked.
Are you a Disney fan yourself? How does it feel to be apart of the Disney family?
I grew up loving Disney Channel Original Movies and still watch them. I also grew up watching a lot of their TV shows like Lizzie McGuire, Boy Meets World, That’s So Raven. It’s so great to be a part of something that the whole family can watch. I have a ton of younger cousins so it is definitely something that I’m proud to sit down and watch with them.
Do you have any favorite Disney movies (original or otherwise) yourself?
I’m a huge fan of Princess Diaries One and Two. I love Parent Trap – I know the entire handshake that the twins use with their butler. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with the songs from Frozen – it’s kind of fun when I’m singing “Let It Go” in my backyard when the sun is shining.
It’s sure to be a big hit with the viewers. What else can you tease about what fans can expect when the movie premieres?
One of the dances has already been released… Fans are going to have to tune in, but I hope they enjoy the varsity’s dance just as much as the other one!
Were there any challenges you faced while filming? Any memorable moments?
I loved being in pre-production for this project. Before we actually started filming we had dance rehearsals and it was so nice to bond with the cast before getting on set. After dancing, we’d go out for sushi and sit there all sweaty but at least we were sweaty together!
In addition to appearing in “Zapped”, you’ll be starring alongside some fantastic names in Night At The Museum 3. Was it exciting getting to work alongside actors like Ben Stiller, Rebel Wilson, Robin Williams and more?
Working on a feature film is very different than working on a TV movie or series. It was really cool to be involved with this project because I have more experience with fast-paced production. On Night At The Museum 3, we were able to take our time with filming – trying different things with the lines and blocking. When I met Ben Stiller I couldn’t help but smile. I’ve seen him in so many movies that to be onset with him is definitely memorable.
Can you talk about your role of Andrea in the movie and what we can expect from that?
Andrea is the cool, popular girl in Nick Daley’s school. Night at the Museum 3 comes out this December, so people are going to have to tune in to find out more!
Were you a fan of the other Night At The Museum movies?
Yes, a huge fan! My family is actually a huge fan too. When I tell my dad about a role I book he usually says something like, “Congratulations” or “I’m proud of you sweetie”, but when I told him about NATM3 he said “Oh! I like that movie!” The family will probably be buying advanced tickets for this one.
Finally, how has the fan support been so far? Are you looking forward to everything that’s ahead for you?
I’m definitely excited for everyone to see these movies. I am very grateful for everything that has happened so far and I’m excited to continue on this journey. It’s a wonderful feeling when you get to do something that you love and call it your job.
