The CW is getting a head start on their series renewals, including the fan favorite pair – The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff, The Originals!
Now, originally, The Vampire Diaries signed for six seasons, but no word has been given yet as to whether or not this will in fact be the show’s last season or not. The Originals, on the other hand, proved its worth over the course of only 13 episodes. Initially the spinoff was set to air a 13-episode pilot season but shortly after the second episode, three more were scripts requested until its success bought them a full 22-episode season.
“This season we’ve had great success with out new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years. The Vampire Diaries is No. 2 in its time period in the young adult demos…” – CW president, Mark Pedowitz
And not only are the fans ecstatic about this, but some of the actors have even voiced their excitement:
Let’s just keep our fingers crossed for more crossovers between the two shows in the coming seasons and congratulations to both shows for their success!
The Originals returns Tuesday, Feb. 25th.
The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday, Feb.27th.
*Other shows also renewed early included “Reign”, “Supernatural”, and “Arrow”.
