Today we bring you an incredibly talented indie singer-songwriter from Pennsylvania. Amelia Scalies has completed a full length release entitled “I Should’ve Known“. Already so talented and accomplished at such a young age, we can see why she’s been wowing audiences around the Northeast with her performances. We just got done listening to the album and we think this is definitely something you guys “should know” about.
Amelia is described as indie alt-pop and everything from alternative rock to country. With music this good, who needs to be put in a box? After listening to the first track, I would say Amelia’s sound is similar to that of Paramore and No Doubt with a dash of Jimmy Eat World. All of which, I love.
Her vocals are very mature and are coupled with powerful lyrics anyone would be able to relate to.
The album features 11 original tracks and 1 cover song.
The first song we listened to was “More Than Words“. This song is awesome. It’s just so good! It’s definitely my favorite. This is the song with that kind of sound to make you rock out and play air guitar. Or air drums, whichever you prefer. With an impressive guitar-driven sound, I can really see this song being an addition to a movie soundtrack somewhere.
“Rose Blossom” features a slower sound that really allows the listener to appreciate Amelia’s powerful vocals, which are, by the way, fantastic. The vocals are definitely on point.
“I Should’ve Known” is the title track on the album. This song features more of those powerful lyrics that we’re loving so much. There’s also something I’m really loving about the guitar line on this song. This is great and I also never want to piss her off. Girl can definitely write a song well.
“Don’t Let Them Win” is the final song on the album, a tribute to children affected by bullying. We think people of all ages will be able to relate to this one.
All in all, Amelia Scalies is not one to be missed.
