Daniel Craig hosted last night’s new episode of Saturday Night Live. I’ve been reading some reviews and while some of them seemed to think it was a dud overall, I actually enjoyed it. Daniel did a great job with the material he was given. Sometimes, the laughs just aren’t there. But there were definitely some hilarious stand out moments for me.
Of course, there was coverage of the presidential debate but the episode featured a surprise appearance from everyone’s favorite 8 foot tall yellow bird: Big Bird!
Anytime the cast gets together to do their best impressions, you know it’s going to be a great sketch. Fred as Penny Marshall was so accurate it was creepy and newcomer Kate showed that she might be the next one to watch with her own spot on impression of Ellen.
Working Class Drama
This one wasn’t so funny as it was just about how happy I was to see Bill Hader. He was surprisingly rather absent from the episode. I don’t approve. His accent in this was hilarious.
This was by far the most out there sketch of the night and it delivered in laughs that were more out of shock than anything else. Fred displaying his crotch under a skirt for the world to see while sitting on Daniel Craig’s lap just does that to you I guess.
Big Bird Visits Weekend Update
Everyone was thrilled when Big Bird made a surprise appearance on Weekend Update to address Mitt Romney’s comments at the debate. Bobby’s face when he got a hug melted my heart.
