Following Emmett’s arrest, things aren’t going well for him. Or for Bay for that matter. Turns out he was arrested for painting the billboard for her. Melody blames Bay for the whole thing and tells her to just stay away from her son. Blech. She’s horrible.
Emmett is avoiding Bay because he’s upset about the arrest so Daphne goes to see him. We get another heartbreaking scene from his character when he expresses his pain about being deaf and getting arrested. He compares it to drowning when he wasn’t able to defend himself or explain. Daphne calls Bay ignorant because she can never understand what he’s going through. When Emmett is ready, Bay explains to him that it’s always easier to go through these things with someone instead of being alone.
Daphne is disappointed when it seems her basketball coach has no interest in actually letting her play. Toby finds out that the only reason she was recruited was because the school gets a 20,000 dollar grant if they encourage students with disabilities to play. To make her day worse, Daphne decides to go see Angelo. She asks him to tell her the truth about why he left her. He tries to explain he thought that Regina was cheating on him. Again and again Daphne demands to know if it had anything to do with her being deaf. Angelo is honest and reveals that it of course, made the situation difficult. Daphne leaves and tries to bond with her real dad over some basketball.
Angelo offers Regina help with money for her salon. She hesitates because she doesn’t think going into business with him would be a good idea. Maybe it’s not. After having to fire their lawyer for hooking up with someone that works on the hospital board, John discovers that there were two years that Angelo completely disappeared. What was he up to?
Here are some great sneak peeks of next week’s episode of Switched at Birth. The beginning of the first clip made me happy because Kathryn and Regina were finally getting along but..as you’ll see, it doesn’t last. It also sheds some light on why Emmett was arrested.

After last night’s Emmett cliffhanger, fans are wondering what’s in store for him next week. Was anyone else confused why the police were even pulling up to his garage? Here’s ABC Family’s promo for next week’s new episode of Switched at Birth: Self-Portrait With Bandaged Ear.

After watching this episode I’ve decided how much I dislike Melody. She still doesn’t like Bay and it seems that Emmet wanting to start speech therapy is a big reason why. She blames Bay when she learns he fails a test at school and doesn’t make any effort to pretend to like her. Emmet wants everyone to get along so he arranges a board game and dinner night with his mom and Regina.
Bay brings her blossoming sign language skills and some artichoke dip to the party but it’s not good enough. When Bay accidentally uses the wrong sign during the game, Melody makes fun of her and Bay and Regina decide to leave. “She’s a total bitch.” LOL. I basically guffawed when she said that. Emmett lays the smackdown on his mom and tells her that Bay isn’t going anywhere so she needs to suck it up and treat her better.
Daphne is feeling lonely now that she has to share Regina with Bay and now that she lost Emmett to her as well. She befriends Bay’s ex-bff Simone and gets a fake ID to hang out with her in a bar. Bay tries to warn her about Simone but it pretty much goes in one ear and out the other. Daphne is also struggling with trying to please her dad and playing for a losing basketball team. She gets an offer from Buckner to play for an amazing team and after much arguments, she leaves the team her dad coaches. She’s not making many friends this episode..except for the guy she makes out with at the bar when she tells Wilke the two of them are never gonna happen. She should get that to be honest.
I’m kind of curious if Katherine will give any money her book will make to Regina for her salon or how Simone’s reckless behavior will get Daphne into trouble.
Great news for fans of Switched at Birth. The new hit ABC Family show will be returning next year! The new episodes will premiere January 3rd at 8pm! I wonder if that will conflict with Glee. Looks like I have some DVR programming to do.
