“New Girl” is back, and this season is likely going to focus on Nick and Jess’s attempt at a relationship. The two have had an odd flirtation and romantic tension since the beginning of the show, but it wasn’t until last season that we saw Nick and Jess hook up and sift through their complicated feelings before having a go at something substantial. (Well, as substantial as two people who have had a weird-off in their apartment hallway could have.)
Nick and Jess are both giddy with each other, and tell each other they’re “all in.” But while standing outside 4D, where all the madness happens, the implications of falling for a roommate finally hit Nick and Jess. They both decide they need time away from the others, to figure things out. (more…)

Michael Schur, one of the creators of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” spent six years in Lorne Michaels’ writing room. The other, Dan Goor, was a writer for Conan O’Brien, so perhaps he inherited some of that same humor by proxy. Perhaps’s that’s why the pilot episode felt a lot like an extended SNL short. (I love SNL shorts so I’m an easy sell.)
Like Schur and Goor’s other successful pet project, “Parks and Recreation,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” seems to be following the ensemble formula of focusing on a quirky main character, and his interactions with peripheral but equally as quirky characters. Here, Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) is the comic lead of a group of cops in the fictional 99th Precinct. My guess is that the setting matters less than the dynamic between the characters, although I’m sure it’ll come in handy for the odd hipster/yuppie jokes.

Still about 1 month ½ to go but channels didn’t lose time to announce their fall’s calendar. FX & Fox are the leaders. Can’t wait for your favorite shows to return this Fall? FOX just announced the premiere dates for their Fall 2012 schedule. Among the changes, fan favorite Glee will be moving to Thursday’s at 9pm following the premiere of The X Factor. That dispels any rumor the show wouldn’t be returning until next year. This move will test my DVR and give it a workout while simultaneously forcing me to choose between the musical drama and CBS fan favorite Person of Interest.
What do you think of the new schedule? Which shows will you be tuning in to?
