Bella and Kim Ho Preview What’s Ahead on ‘House of Ho’ Season 2 – Interview

House of Ho is set to return for a second season on Thursday, August 25th on HBO Max. The Max Original docu-reality series will debut a ten-episode season throughout September and promises to bring more drama, love, and luxury. The series follows the Hos, a Vietnamese-American family in Houston managing the drama, conflict, luxury, and love of creating a multimillion-dollar empire.

We recently had the chance to chat with Bella and Kim Ho who will be joining the cast for season 2. We spoke with them about what viewers can expect from the new episodes of House of Ho season 2, what that process was like putting their lives on camera for the first time, and why the strength of their family will always be important to them.

Read on for our exclusive interview with Bella and Kim Ho below:

Following the success of season one, what was that process like of joining the cast for season 2 of House of Ho? How excited were you?

Kim Ho: I think we were very shy and very afraid of putting our lives out in public but we were able to do it together. We were like “I’ll do it if you do it.” [laughs] We decided that what better way to spread our messages, and vision, and share our story and our common struggles so that people can relate to it than with our family. It’s just raw and genuine.

Bella Ho: That we were able to do it together was the biggest thing. I wouldn’t have felt so comfortable without Kim here. She’s my best friend and that’s saying a lot. She’s my family. Even though we’re family we choose to be this close and to be there for each other.

Just based on the trailer alone, the two of you will be a fun and lively addition for sure. What can viewers expect from your personalities in the new season?

Bella Ho: Honestly, if you see the trailer you’ll see a lot of drama. It’s more Hos and more drama. I think this season is about me and Kim also trying to find our place in our families and who we are as individuals. How do we fit back in after being away for so long? You will see our own individual opinions shine through and who we are. That’s really important for us to share and that people can see that. We’re human and even though our family has a reality TV show, it’s more than that. We care about so many different things and we just want our families to be supported.

Kim Ho: Season One really highlighted the older generations’ problems and what they faced. Whether it’s marriage or raising children or familial duties. Season two has all those things from season one, along with being single and being in your 20s and figuring out who you are as a person, and exploring your identity.

I was really relating to some of your scenes because there’s always this pressure to please your parents and it never seems to waiver as we get older. With such a large extended family, you’re in a great position where you have a family to turn to if you ever need it. Would you say we will be seeing more of your familial relationships and how they will develop over the course of the new episodes?

Bella Ho: You can definitely see how our relationships differ between each family member. But at the core of it no matter who we are and who they are, we’re always there 100 percent for our families. It’s really nice to be able to share that with others. Throughout the season, you’re going to be seeing a lot of laughs, luxury, and love. That’s the ups and downs but at the end of it, it’s great to see we’re all a family. You cannot mimic that bond that we share.

How would you say the family dynamic that we’ve seen so far on the series will be affected as you guys join the cast? Is it pretty smooth sailing or will tensions arise?

Kim Ho: I think us being the younger generation and joining the family and being able to create new memories would make more drama. We were taught to respect and appreciate our elders but I think it brings in a fresh perspective where we help balance it out. In one of the later episodes, Lesley and Sammy have a fight and I think it’s from their generational differences and not understanding the other’s struggles. What we add, is that fresh perspective where they are each able to understand where the other is coming from.

Bella Ho: You said it very well. Us coming in allows that sense of perspective on how each family member feels about themselves. They forget they are individual people who are allowed to have fun. You’re going to be seeing Lesley going out to the club and enjoying herself. It’s hard to do that when you have family and kids and bills to pay. We’re here reminding them that you can have both.

I agree you brought a great balance and it helps expand the audience and pulls them in. How has that experience been going from privacy to being filmed for a reality show?

Bella Ho: From total privacy to a reality show was a really hard adjustment. I don’t think anything would ever prepare you for that. You never really know until you’re in it. Sometimes you just want to sit there and break down. You can see it this Thursday, the number of times we’ve cried. These are real tears that we are feeling. It’s something that’s so raw even though it’s a TV show. It’s an amazing experience overall. I’m so glad I was able to be a part of it with Kim and my family.

Kim Ho: Honestly, I’m still not ready to put my whole life out there. I’m motivated by the fact that we are able to represent a regular Asian family going through everyday struggles. Whether you’re going through something, as long as one voice feels like they’re being heard and they’re not alone, it makes me putting my life out there not as scary.

Do you have any guilty pleasure reality shows for yourselves?

Bella Ho: I really liked Selling Sunset. They’re so extra but in such a fun way. I want to go shopping with Christine Quinn. I really do. I love their outfits. It’s just fun to have a break from my own reality and what I’m going through and just laugh. I really like to look at houses. I watch Architectural Digest all the time.

Kim Ho: One of my favorite reality shows is going to be The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Not only because of the drama but just being able to talk about it with my friends and just relate to the characters. Being able to talk about it and share and take a break from life to laugh makes me really enjoy that show.

What can you tease about what viewers can expect from season 2? What are you most eager for viewers to see when the new episodes air?

Bella Ho: There are definitely more Hos. What does that mean? More drama. All this drama is gonna be keeping you on the edge of your seats. There’s gonna be ups and downs but heartfelt things that I’m excited for people to see. Just for our family to share our story and reach someone out there.
