Ava Kolker
Ava Kolker stars as Ava Morgenstern, the girlfriend to Auggie Matthews on the Emmy-nominated Disney Channel series Girl Meets World. We had the chance to chat with Ava about joining the sequel series to Boy Meets World, what it’s like working with the cast and crew, what she loves most about fashion, and what her fans can look out for from her next!

Can you talk a little about your role on Girl Meets World and what originally attracted you to it?
I was just excited to be on a Disney show! It hadn’t aired yet when I booked it so I didn’t know much about it other than it was a sequel to Boy Meets World, which used to be a popular TV show. After I booked it and started filming, then I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to work with such a great cast and director and writers. I had so much fun, and they were so nice to me. It was my first live audience show so I was very nervous, but they told me the audience was my best friend, and I never got nervous again.
Have you had a chance to watch the original series Boy Meets World? What did you think?
Yes, after I booked the role, I started watching all the Boy Meets World episodes. I couldn’t get enough. I loved every one of them, and I saw how each episode had a great lesson, just like Girl Meets World.
What are some of your memorable and fun moments while working together with the cast so far?
There are so many. But I would say when we sing and dance together at lunch, or when someone forgets a line and we all crack up, or when we play games in between scenes, or when we just talk quietly about life.

Why did you originally want to be an actress? Did anyone inspire you?
I knew I wanted to be an actress since I was 2 years old. I loved to make my family laugh, and I used to say “How do I get on TV?” We actually have home movies with me running around the house at 2 years old singing “I’m gonna be a movie star.”
Is there anyone you would love to work with someday, if you could pick anyone?
I would love to work with Adam Sandler or Jennifer Aniston.
How has the support from your fans been so far?
It has been overwhelming. They are always so complimentary and non-judgmental, I feel like I can always be myself and post glam pictures or goofy ones. I’m very grateful for them.
What do you love most about fashion and getting to model on a runway?
Aww. I could go on about this one. I love fashion so much and I always pay attention to people’s style and who I would want to learn from, and which designers I would want to wear. When I get to put on fabulous clothes and display them on a runway, I feel like I am walking on a cloud. It is so fun, with no pressure and no performance. I just enjoy the moment and the connection with the audience.
What can you tease about what we can expect from the rest of the season? What can we expect from your character in the upcoming episodes?
Some of my favorite episodes haven’t aired yet. There is an episode where I play two different parts, and it is my favorite one, I think. The writers came up with some hilarious scenes for me to perform, and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I loved filming it. In between all the laughs, there is also one of my favorite lessons very relevant to our times. It’s Girl Meets The Great Lady of New York.
Can you discuss your role in Sister Cities?
Sure, I play the young version of Jess Weixler in a flashback scene. The movie is about four sisters who reunite after not seeing each other for a long time after a family tragedy. I really enjoyed filming it, even though it was a small part, and can’t wait to see it on Lifetime on September 17.
