Do you ever just want to go back? No, not to the future. To the 90s!
Artie. Mr. Tastee. Petunia. The Petes. Growing up in the 90s with Nickelodeon as the first network for kids was an underrated and unique experience. The Adventures of Pete & Pete was a show far ahead of its time that didn’t pander to kids and had awesome guest stars like Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, and Steve Buscemi.
Hey Sandy
Pete & Pete delivered a quality series that was both pure and entertaining. It captivated audiences for three seasons and continued to gain a cult following over the years. It began to represent a yearning for the genuine content the likes of which we just don’t see anymore. #GingerPower
Series’ stars Michael C. Maronna and Danny Tamberelli are hitting the road for an ultimate 90s celebration of all things Pete. 90s Night with Danny and Mike is stopping at 11 cities throughout the month of September, the event promises a fun-filled night of meet and greets, script readings, Q&As, and more.
We were there for the first stop of the 90s Night with Danny and Mike tour at the Amityville Music Hall. We can tell you, as fans of the original show, this night was more than we ever could have hoped for.
Upon walking through the door, I was greeted with a casual, intimate atmosphere that promised a once in a lifetime opportunity to mingle with childhood heroes. Michael C. Maronna was there to shake my hand as soon as we stepped into the room and Danny Tamberelli was eager to kick things off by meeting and chatting with as many fans as they could.
Nothing about the process was rushed or micro-managed. It was a wonderful experience to see the two take their time with every person who came to see the event. Michael and Danny are both well-spoken, kind, genuine, and thoughtful. It was an honest and absolute pleasure meeting them both.
Once the meet and greet portion was over and several drinks were ordered, we took our places by the stage and watched along with Michael, Danny, and our host for the night Jeremy Balon, as they aired the original Pete & Pete shorts that started it all. Fans were invited on stage to participate in script readings with the guys, the crowd was encouraged to ask questions about their time on the show, and prizes were awarded as the two battled it out in hilarious improv games.
Dirty Secrets…
Our favorite part of the night came when Jeremy encouraged the boys to share their dirty secrets from the past. We can never look at a honey bear the same way again. Balon, who also serves as producer to the Adventures of Danny and Mike podcast, did a wonderful job amping up the crowd, moderating the night, and is an actual kick-ass photographer who made our pictures look great. I’m convinced he is an Instagram sorcerer.
If you want to check the event out for yourself, as you should, bust out your Petunia tattoos and plaid hats and head over to their official website theadventuresofdannyandmike.com or their official Facebook for more information. The night was a nostalgic blast and a genuine dose of ginger goodness. You won’t be disappointed.
