It was also cited by Pulse nightclub shooting survivor Tony Marrero as the anthem to his recovery. Who can forget Marrero’s emotional Ellen appearance earlier this month, which featured Perry herself? (If you haven’t seen it, grab some tissues!)
Eleven-year-old songstress, actress, and dancer Asia Monet Ray recently put her unique stamp on this modern classic. Her music video is rapidly approaching 100,000 views, and YouTube commenters – who aren’t typically known for their civility – are showering her with compliments! One compared Asia Monet to Rihanna, while several posited that the cover may be as good as or better than the original song.
