What a week for pop music huh? Following a string of leaks that released to the world both Katy Perry‘s new single “Roar” and “Applause” by Lady Gaga, fans have been jamming at this new influx of music to digest and enjoy. Now, I have listened to both songs multiple times and was prepared to hate both of them. I’ve been a fan of Gaga since she was just starting to become famous so I’ve missed her old sound a lot. I didn’t care much for “Burqa” when it leaked and I just assumed her new music would contain the same level of pretentious nonsense as “Born This Way.” I think Gaga has a fantastic voice but when she deliberately sings in odd voices and gives deeper social meanings to her songs when it really isn’t necessary, it can get disappointing. I expected more of the same from “Applause.”

We’ve got another great band for you guys to discover. Based out of Brooklyn, New York, we bring you Arc & Stones. This four member indie rock group consists of Dan Pellarin, Ben Cramer, Eddy Bayes, and Joe Doino. Describing themselves as a rock band with a hint of the blues, Arc & Stones have just released their self-titled EP. With a sound similar to that of The Black Keys and The Raconteurs, it’s no wonder they’re gaining so much buzz. Now on tour supporting the Arc & Stones EP, fans can get a glimpse of what these guys have to offer by checking out their most recently released music videos.

Is the Lone Ranger the proof that Johnny Depp needs to stop working with Disney? According to the result of the Lone Ranger it seems that yes, maybe.
Announced as one of the blockbusters of this summer, the latest Disney movie seems to stumble at the box office. During its opening weekend, it just earned $29.4 million while in a week; it only earned $48.9 million in North America. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney could face a $150 million loss. Not a situation the studio had imagined as the Lone ranger was supposed to be one the latest high-profile movie of this summer.

NYC-based singer-songwriter Emilia Cataldo is the creative mind behind Nehedar. A project with a slew of creative and musical influences, Nehedar has just finished production on their 6th independent album. “This Heart” was released June 11th, 2013 and features a pop sound infused with indie rock and jazz influences.

A new comedy classic has arrived in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s masterful creation, This Is The End. The ultimate apocalypse movie with too many celeb/pop culture references to count, this is a film that can easily be considered the comedy of the year.
