I hear you are from Long Island! It’s nice to see a neighbor being so successful!
I love living on Long Island. The beaches are beautiful and New York City is just a quick train ride away!
I was very interested in your career in theatre and Broadway. Can you talk a little about what inspired you to pursue that as a career?
My love of acting, singing, and dancing was inspired by Shirley Temple. When I was four years old, a commercial for the Shirley Temple DVDs came on the television. I begged my mom for the whole set. I watched every movie, color and black and white over and over, and I said to my mom, “I want to do what she does. I want to be just like her!”
Soon after I booked my first job, my mother asked me what I wanted to do with my earnings. I asked to see “Wicked” on Broadway and knew that day it is what I wanted to pursue as a career and I have not looked back since.
Are you excited at the prospect of Broadway hopefully reopening soon? Do you have any favorite shows that you would love to see or even get the chance to be a part of?
I am so excited that Broadway is reopening soon. So many fellow actors have been out of work for so long, missing what truly makes them happy. I have so many favorite shows, Hadestown, Dear Evan Hanson and of course Hamilton. I do have a life goal. Recently, I was invited to see Wicked again, and my answer was, “Next time I see Wicked on Broadway, I will be in it!” I would also love to play Zoe in Dear Evan Hanson.
Right now you are also releasing new music and focusing on that. What inspired you to pursue your musical talents and a career in music as well?
I have always worked as a professional singer. When I was 6 I was hired by Nickelodeon to sing and act in their animated series “Wally Kazam.” Then my stage career began soon after. My biggest break was when I was hired by DreamWorks Animation to sing an original song as a pop troll in, “Trolls the Beat Goes On.” During Covid, everything shut down and it was really when I had time to focus on and pursue my own music and tell my own story instead of someone else’s.
What would you say your listeners can expect from your music? How would you describe your sound?
I want my listeners to hear my songs and know they can live their dream despite challenges, roadblocks, disappointment, and bad days. My sound is very unique. My listeners describe my voice as angelic, soulful, honest, and empowering.
What do you love most about music when you compare it to acting? Is there one that you prefer over the other?
I have been told I was singing before I was talking, so I like to say I was born to sing! I prefer singing, yet grateful I have an acting background, which makes it easier to tell my story when performing a song. I love writing original music because it allows me to tell my story and not one that has been written for me in a script.
What does your music playlist look like? Who are some of your favorite musicians to listen to lately?
I have over 30 different playlists on my Spotify account. Recently I have been enjoying songs by Lizzy McAlpine. I love her style, the dynamic lyrics, and the simplicity of her voice. I also love the Jacuzzi Boys and see them as a modern version of The Beatles and I can’t help but rock out to their tunes.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I would love to work with Olivia Rodrigo or Dodie. Though they are two very different artists, a collaboration would be fun and interesting with my unique sound and style.
What are you working on now? What can your fans look forward to from you next?
I am planning on releasing my next single late September and soon after a music video. I am always surprising my fans with different music, and this next song is very different from anything I have written or produced before. It is an edgy, empowering, pop rock song with a mix of angelic and unique vocal colors. The message is: EVERY ACTION HAS CONSEQUENCES!
