Logan Allen can next be seen starring as Kyle Townsend in the upcoming Netflix drama series Sweet Magnolias. Based on the novels by Sherryl Woods, the series follows the story of three families in a small town in South Carolina.
We had the chance to chat with Logan about what viewers can expect from Sweet Magnolias, how the experience has been filming alongside the cast and crew, and appearing in an upcoming episode of Creepshow on AMC.
Read on for our exclusive interview with Logan Allen below:
What would you say initially motivated you to pursue acting as a career? Was there anyone who influenced or inspired you?
It all started through a mutual friend. Her daughter is an actress and she thought I would do good in the business. Now there are no actors in my family, so this whole thing was new, and we weren’t so sure about it. After talking with my mom and our friend, we decided to give it a chance. After a while of doing it, I knew that it was my passion and was something that I wanted to do.
You can next be seen starring in the Netflix drama series Sweet Magnolias. Can you tell us a little about what viewers can expect from the series? What attracted you to the role?
Sweet Magnolias is this heartfelt, wholesome show about family. You guys will experience happy, sad, and crazy moments. It’s a wild ride, but a fun one. What attracted me to the role was my character, Kyle.
More specifically, can you tell us a little about your role of Kyle Townsend and what we can look forward to from him as a character in these first episodes? What are you most eager for viewers to see?
Kyle is a theatre kid who has the most positive attitude. He is so nice and even though, at times when it feels like the world is ending, he still tries his hardest to keep a smile on his face and not bring everyone else down. I think you really see his charm in the first few episodes but it gets very interesting later in the season.
I can’t wait for the audience to not just see Kyle’s character development but to see everyone else’s too. The cast and crew were all excited to see what was happening as each episode was released. The writers on this show did such a wonderful job with that.
Would you say you two are alike at all? What do you love most about getting to play him?
I would say we have some similarities. We both are passionate about acting, we both live in the south, and we both are the middle child in our families. Because of this, it was pretty easy to get into character and do some scenes. My favorite part of playing Kyle was that he talked to and interacted with a bunch of other characters. Because of this, I got to work with a bunch of different actors/actresses in the show.
What are your hopes for your character and the series if it were to get renewed for a second season? What would you love to get the chance to do or see in an upcoming episode?
The season ends with some really awesome stuff going on. I would love to see how my character and all the other ones deal with the situation. You guys will know what I’m talking about when you finish the season! I REALLY need a season 2 to happen! I think even though we get to see Kyle’s development throughout the season, there is still a lot to explore with his character. Those are the main reasons why I want a season 2 to happen!
How has the experience been working alongside the cast and crew of Sweet Magnolias?
It was incredible. Everyone on the cast and crew was phenomenal. Everyone I worked with was so down to earth and just plain fun to be around. This cast is something special and I think everyone will notice it when you watch the show!
Netflix is the number one activity for me as I social distance at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. How have you been passing the time? What are some of your favorite things to binge or stream right now?
That’s my favorite activity at the moment also! Right now, I’m binging The Office (of course) and Stranger Things. Those are my two favorite shows and I can’t stop re-watching them! Other than watching Netflix though, I’ve been doing school and working outside. I live on a piece of property with all types of animals, so I have to make sure they’re doing well.
What else are you working on? What can your fans look forward to from you next?
I haven’t been working on anything that I can announce, BUT I have Creepshow, coming out May 4th on AMC, and Sweet Magnolias, on Netflix May 19th, on their way!
Thank you so much to Logan Allen for taking the time to answer some questions for us!
Be sure to check out Sweet Magnolias streaming on Netflix beginning May 19th!
