Thank you so much for speaking with us! We first want to congratulate you on the upcoming release of your latest EP Wonderlust: The Dusk. How does it feel to be sharing this with your fans?
Thank you for having me! It feels wonderful. The Wonderlust project was a culmination of my feelings and experiences over the past year and a half, and it was really special getting to share that with my fans.
What can your listeners expect from Wonderlust? How would you say it compares to your previous releases?
I think it’s the strongest I feel regarding my writing abilities. I wrote both EPs entirely by myself, and I’m really proud that I was able to showcase my writing that way. I think it’s really helped my confidence. It’s also definitely the most vulnerable I’ve ever been, which is scary but exciting.
Can you talk a little bit about what inspired you to pursue music as a career?
I always knew I’d get into music one day, although originally I had thought it might be musical theatre. I think everything changed when I was approached to come into a recording studio at 12/13 and start recording my own music. I really fell in love with that process and knew it was what I wanted to do from then on.
How would you describe your sound to someone thinking of listening for the first time?
I like to describe it as whimsical, ethereal pop. With a dash of fantasy-inspired visuals.
Who are some of your musical influences when it comes time to creating music?
I have always been heavily inspired by Freddie Mercury, I love his energy and stage presence, I love how dramatic and flamboyant he was! A true star. As for writing music, I wouldn’t say there’s any particular artist I reference, lately I’ve just been writing what I’ve been feeling internally.
So excited to hear that you’ll be hitting the stage in tour with Tori Kelly! How has that experience been so far?
It’s been absolutely amazing! I have had the best time on tour with Tori, and her and her crew have been so wonderful and welcoming of me. It’s also my first ever world tour I’ve been on, so I’ll treasure the experience forever!
What would you say your fans can expect from your live show?
Lots of butterflies! I don’t have a band so I think my team and I really cracked down on how we could give the most interesting and best version of a show. There’s dancing, the costumes are magical, and I like to think my vocals are pretty solid too!
This all sounds like a very exciting time! What’s next for you? Is there anything else you’d like your listeners to keep an eye out for that you’re working on?
I would love to aim for my own tour in 2025, I think that would be an incredible experience. I’d also love to finally release a debut album, as I’ve been sitting on a lot of music I feel is ready to be released!
