Read on for our exclusive interview with Liddy Clark below:
Firstly, congratulations on the release of your debut album Made Me! How does it feel to finally be sharing this with your fans?
Thank you! It feels incredibly cathartic to finally have a full project out in the world. I’m excited to have fans hear how each of these songs complements each other. It shows the process of how writing these songs has “made me” the person I am today!
What can your fans expect from Made Me? What are you most excited for them to hear?
This album has a lot of different concepts throughout, spanning a wide range of topics. I am excited for fans to hear all of the different sides of me through this project and I’m excited to hear which songs fans are drawn to the most!
You recently released a music video for your viral hit “We Both Know”. How was that experience shooting the video?
It was so much fun! I got to work with some great friends who truly listened to my vision and helped create a visual piece of media that showcases the meaning of the song in more ways than one. It was so wonderful getting to work with such chill people who believe in the power of music as much as I do!
Can you talk a little bit about what inspired you to pursue music as a career?
Music has always been something I’m extremely passionate about and I knew that my life was always going to take me down that road. I decided to pursue music as a career because I feel like my songs add value to the world, I believe that by writing through my emotions and experiences, I can help others feel less alone when they go through these emotions themselves.
How would you describe your sound to someone thinking of listening for the first time?
It’s reminiscent of the Taylor Swift “Speak Now” Era, as well as inspired by Maisie Peters, John Mayer, Maren Morris, and Julia Michaels. It’s pop meets country meets singer/songwriter. I like to define my music by its feeling, I don’t limit myself by genre!
Who are some of your musical influences when the time comes to create your music?
Definitely who I listed above haha! I listen to all different kinds of music, I’m inspired by artists such as JP Saxe, Phoebe Bridgers, The 1975, and Carly Pearce.
Can you talk a little about why it’s important for you to share your story with your listeners and put yourself out there in that way?
I feel it’s important to share my story because I’ve had experiences in my life that were absolutely crushing to get through. Music was the only thing that kept me going (and my wonderful friends/family support system). I want to be that voice for someone who needs it, and I know the power that words and melody can hold.
Do you have any plans to tour or perform live to promote your new music?
Absolutely! I have had shows recently in both Nashville and Los Angeles and plan on continuing to perform in those cities as well as a few more.
It sounds like many exciting opportunities are headed your way! What else are you working on? What can your fans look forward to from you next?
I’m always writing! I’ve recorded most of my next project and am looking forward to creating even more music that fans can scream/sing along to.
