What motivated you to initially pursue acting as your career? Was there anyone who influenced or inspired you?
For as long as I can remember, I always loved performing. Whether it was dancing for my family in our living room, singing for a school concert, or performing in a play for my church, I always enjoyed the thrill of performing and entertaining. Acting in film and television always intrigued me. From an early age, I wanted to be on TV and knew that acting was what I wanted to do. It was always a dream that I never stopped pursuing and I did whatever I could to make it a reality. Today, I’m happy and thankful to be a working actor with a series regular role on a legendary series that’s been running strong for 25+ years. Any dream can become a reality when you work hard, believe in yourself, and never stop chasing it.
Can you tell us about your character Nate on Power Rangers Beast Morphers and what viewers can expect from him as a character?
Nate is a child prodigy and the lead scientist for Grid Battleforce. He invents and develops different weapons and technology the Rangers use to fight evil and keep the city of Coral Harbor safe. After Nate is kidnapped and forced to make a robot for Evox, the evil virus, he outsmarts him and instead turns himself into the Gold Ranger along with turning the robot into the Silver Ranger.
Nate goes from being the tech boy who’s always behind the computer and in the lab helping the Rangers, to being front row on the battlefield fighting evil himself. He isn’t the first person you’d expect to be a Ranger, but Nate defies stereotypes and proves that anyone can be a Ranger. Being a hero isn’t defined on what physical traits you possess, but on your internal characteristics. Fans will be able to follow Nate’s journey of being the new Gold Ranger and continuing to invent and develop weapons and technology the Ranger team will use to fight against Evox.
Power Rangers is an iconic franchise that has been captivating audiences for over 25 years. Were you a fan of the Power Rangers before you took on the role and if so, did that attract or influence your decision to join?
I’ve watched a few seasons of Power Rangers, so when I booked the role of Nate, I was super stoked to be a part of this iconic franchise and join the legendary Gold Ranger legacy. Playing a superhero has been one of the best experiences of my life and career because of all the amazing things that have come with it.
Thanks to the role, I’ve done things like fly through the air on wires, on-screen fights against several opponents, act with many different types of weapons, and do lots of different stunts. Another amazing thing that comes with being a Power Ranger is being a role model and someone kids and people of all ages can look up to. I hope to inspire people to follow their dreams, never stop believing in themselves, and be confident in who they are because being yourself is truly one of the best gifts in life.

Do you do anything special to prepare for the role of Nate? Would you say you are similar to your character at all?
During the audition process, I was practicing martial arts daily. After arriving in New Zealand, I had a 3 week intensive before filming. During the intensive, I learned how to do stunts and fight on-screen. Nate and I are similar in the way that we are both independent, creative, and problem solvers.
I grew up watching Power Rangers early in the morning before school and I love that Beast Morphers is using that same format. Were there any shows that you grew up watching as a kid that you looked forward to seeing every week?
Some of my favorite TV shows I watched growing up were The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, That’s So Raven, and Drake & Josh. I loved all the early 2000’s Nickelodeon and Disney shows!
Is there anyone you would love to work with someday, if given the chance?
I would love to work with Sofia Vergara, Kate Del Castillo, Eugenio Derbez, Jennifer Lopez, and Jaime Camil, to name a few. I look up [to] each of these very talented Hispanic actors, their success, and the impact they’ve made in Hollywood. It would be an honor to work with them!
You are very artistic in your spare time. What is it about art that you enjoy as a creative outlet? How did you get interested in it originally?
I express my creativity in many different ways. Whether it’s painting a canvas, designing home interiors, putting together an outfit, or acting out a scene, I enjoy creating art any way I can. I love spending free time in furniture stores, scrolling through indoor plant and interior design Instagram accounts, and painting abstract art. There is no better feeling than the feeling of creativity and creating.
What else are you working on? What can your fans look forward to from you next?
As I finish filming for Beast Morphers, I’m getting ready to go back to the U.S. and continue working hard to book my next project along with creating some new, fun, and exciting things I can’t wait to share very soon! Stay tuned… there’s lots to come from Abey Baby!!!
