In American Horror Story: Cult 7×02, Ally’s fears and phobias escalate until they put her and Ozzy’s lives at risk.
Read on for our recap of American Horror Story: Cult 7×02, “Don’t Be Afraid of The Dark.”
American Horror Story: Cult 7×02 starts right where we left off in last week’s episode – Ally wakes up to find not Ivy next to her, but a clown. Her wife intervenes, finding no traces of a clown in the bedroom.
Ally finally admits that there might be something wrong with her, that she doesn’t know what’s real anymore. And then Oz wakes up screaming, telling his moms that clowns are going to kill him…
Meanwhile in American Horror Story: Cult 7×02, Kai Anderson’s provocative acts toward a group of Hispanic men result in them beating him up – exactly as he had intended. The media position him as the white victim of a brutal attack perpetrated by migrant workers, and the men now face deportation. Ivy watches the news as Kai speaks to the press, stressing how outraged he his. She remembers him as the guy who intentionally threw a cup of coffee at Ally down the street. Kai also tells the police he will run for the city council seat that was made vacant when its previous occupant was killed at the end of last week’s episode.
Back from school, Oz has a chat with Winter. He admits he’s afraid that the clowns who killed his neighbors will come back for him. Winter tells him to give her his fear – she’s going to keep it for him, and it’s going to make them both stronger.
When Ally and Ivy come back home, Winter tells them that Oz is with the new neighbors. Harrison and his wife Meadow are the same couple who leaked the video of Kai being beaten up to the press. The couple is bizarre, to say the least. Harrison is gay and in love with bees and Nicole Kidman, while Meadow had skin cancer and now can’t stand the sun or being touched. They married each other out of friendship, and apparently have no problem at all living in a house where a couple was brutally murdered. The perfect neighbors.
Later on American Horror Story: Cult 7×02, Ivy wants to check out the security system at her restaurant, but Ally decides to go instead. Ozzy can’t sleep, and she senses he’d rather have Ivy with him. Obviously, this is a bad idea: Once Ally arrives at the restaurant, she hears noises coming from the cold room. Inside, she finds Roger – one of the restaurant’s chefs – dead.
The next week, Ivy brings Dr. Vincent home with her, thinking this might be good for Ally. She tells him that the chef was actually still alive when Ally found him. He was injured, and although Ally tried to help him, there was too much blood. Ally tells Vincent that the police suspect a Hispanic boy named Pedro who works in the restaurant. Although Ally witnessed him having an argument with Roger a few days before Roger’s death, she’s sure Pedro couldn’t have done it.
Harrison and Meadow think they know exactly what will make Ally feel safe: guns. And they have a bunker full of them. Ally decides to take one without telling Ivy, despite Doctor Vincent suggesting the opposite. And that’s just the most recent step Ally has taken to protect herself and her family, after having the whole house barricaded behind bars.
As American Horror Story: Cult 7×02 continues, Kai knocks at Ally’s door to announce that he’s running for city council and to ask for her vote. Ally recognizes him and sends him away.
A few hours later, Ally is at home with Oz and Winter while Ivy is at the restaurant. Suddenly, the alarm goes off and the power goes out for the whole block. Harrison knocks at the door and informs Ally and Winter that a terrorist attack caused eight states to go dark. He tells them to stay inside, but Winter decides to leave, saying she has to go back home and check on her property. Ally is now alone in the house with her son, and she is in total panic. She calls Ivy and tells her to come back home, but Ivy can’t leave because she has to get a backup generator for the cold room. While they’re talking, Ally’s phone dies, so Ivy asks Pedro to bring her wife a charger and a few more items.
Back at home, Ally is checking all doors and windows, making sure everything’s closed. She sees a truck parking outside her house. Her panic grows, and she tries to see if the power is back. Shockingly, she discovers that the wires have been cut – and that’s when a clown appears right in front of her. Hysterical, she grabs her new gun, wakes Ozzy up, and tells him they need to run to the neighbors.
Ready to go, Ally finally opens the kitchen door – but someone is out there, right in front of her. Thinking it might be another clown, Ally fires her gun in the dark. But it’s not a clown, it’s poor Pedro, who just came to bring her a phone charger and some water.
Have Ally’s phobias finally caused her to commit an act as terrifying as killing an innocent?
