Read on for our recap of Grimm 6×02, “Trust Me Knot.”
On Captain Renard’s orders, the police are ready to bust into Bud’s shop to arrest Nick and his friends. Trubel suggests fighting back, and Monroe has to reveal that Rosalee is pregnant – it would be too dangerous for her.
The group is shocked but happy, given Monroe and Rosalee’s circumstances, and Nick apologizes that he has dragged them into the situation. Wu and Hank arrive to arrest Renard for the murder of Rachel Wood.
In the meantime, Nick decides to turn himself in – he’s not going to risk his friends’ lives. The police find him, search him, and discover the miraculous stick inside one of his pockets. One of the cops takes it, and suddenly all the cops drop on the floor, unconscious.
Nick and friends manage to escape using one of the police trucks. Monroe suggests Nick should go back hiding in the tunnels.
Back at the precinct, Hank and Wu interrogate Renard. They accuse him of the murder of Rachel Wood, and he can’t say his daughter is the one responsible. When Hank asks where he was the other night, Renard claims he was with his campaign adviser, Bonaparte. In response to being asked where Bonaparte is now, Renard says he left the country and then asks for his lawyer.
Later in Grimm 6×02, Renard calls Adalind and asks her to come to the precinct and get him out of there.
In the meantime, Nick and friends are back in the tunnels, hiding, while Monroe and Rosalee are at the spice shop. Eve asks Nick to give her the cloth. She wants to bring it to Rosalee and try to find out something more about it. Meanwhile, Rosalee receives a call from Adalind, asking if she can bring her kids to the shop for a couple of hours.
Eve finally convinces Nick to give her the cloth and to put the stick away for a while. Nick seems strangely reluctant to separate himself from it.
Adalind arrives at the spice shop with Diana and Kelly, and although Monroe tries to be friendly with the little girl, it is evident he’s scared to death of her. Adalind tells Rosalee that Renard was arrested for the murder of Rachel Wood, and now he wants Adalind to get him out of prison.
Monroe and Rosalee are testing their babysitting skills when Eve and Trubel arrive at the spice shop. Eve asks Rosalee’s help to find out more about the stick and the cloth.
Back at the precinct, Renard asks Adalind to be his alibi for the night Rachel was killed, and Adalind refuses. If they find out she’s covering for Renard, she’ll end up losing her children.
As Grimm 6×02 continues, Wu and Hank meet Nick and Bud in the tunnels. They tell him about Renard’s arrest, and Nick says he needs Renard to drop the charges against him. For that to happen, Nick needs to talk to Renard, so he asks Hank and Wu to let him go.
Hank and Wu bring Renard to Nick’s loft, where Nick says he can be Renard’s alibi. He knows what Renard was doing while Rachel Wood was killed: murdering Bonaparte in front of him. But if Nick talks, things could turn out very complicated for the both of them. Nick suggests Renard drops all the charges against him and reinstate him into the department. In exchange, Wu and Hank will give him an alibi for the night Rachel was killed.
When Nick tells Renard that Adalind will be his alibi, Renard reveals that Adalind turned him down, but Nick replies that she will do it for him. The two men don’t trust each other, so Adalind performs a spell called Trust Me Knot. It’s a blood oath – whoever breaks it first will die.
Adalind meets Rosalee, Trubel, and Eve at the spice shop, where they are trying to figure out more about the cloth in which the stick was wrapped. Rosalee tries a potion to decipher what’s written on the cloth, but without success. In that moment, Diana arrives. She asks her mom what she’s doing, and then says she can see a lot of things written on the cloth. Diana is able to see what the others can’t.
Nick arrives and asks Diana to draw what she sees. There are all sorts of symbols written on the cloth, and our friends will have to find a way to understand what they mean.
Trubel receives a call from Hadrian’s Wall telling her to leave Portland – and that Nick should come with her. Nick refuses – he can’t leave Portland in Renard’s hands.
In the meantime, Hank calls Monroe. He needs Adalind at the courthouse immediately to give her testimony clearing Renard. However, the judge’s opinion clears Renard before Adalind even gives her testimony. Renard is now free to go. Clearly, Renard has someone on his side – and he already knew it when he agreed to take part in the Trust Me Knot spell.
After the trial is over, Renard tells Hank and Wu that he expects their resignations on his desk the next morning.
As Grimm 6×02 ends, we find out that the judge is a wesen allied with Renard. Now the captain is free again – free to go after Nick.
