American Horror Story: Roanoke 6×09 – Chapter 9 – Recap

Who survives the penultimate episode of American Horror Story: Roanoke?

At the beginning of American Horror Story 6×09, a young group of My Roanoke Nightmare fans is venturing near the infamous house. Their purpose is to take a lot of photos and post them all over social media. Among them are Sophie (Taissa Farmiga), Milo, and Todd.

Suddenly, they see a woman along the path. She’s bleeding and looks disoriented. She’s mumbling and says she’s looking for her car. She disappears, and when our friends try to follow her, they find a car upside down. It seems like a bad accident happened. Sophie looks inside and finds a dead person – the same woman they were following.

Meanwhile, Audrey is asking Dylan why he’s here and why he showed up now. (At the end of last week’s episode, he appeared wearing a Pig Man mask.) Dylan says he has spent the past three days isolated inside a motel. No one would answer his calls, and all he had were instructions from Sidney to be in front of the house with the costume on to shake things up a bit. Obviously, he doesn’t have a phone.

Audrey and Lee update him on everything that happened. As American Horror Story 6×09 continues, they decide to go and look for Monet together.

In the meantime, Sophie and her friends are talking with the police about their discovery. When questioned about why they were there, they explain they saw a woman on the path and then found that same woman dead inside the car. The police are perplexed because they found no body inside the car. They warn the fans to go back home or risk being arrested for trespassing.

Back to Lee, Audrey, and Dylan. The trio goes back to the Polks’ farm to try to locate Monet and the tapes Lee wants so desperately. The plan is for Dylan to find a car, wait only a few minutes and then leave, with or without the women. In that short period of time, Lee and Audrey will try to find Monet and the tapes.

Audrey locates Monet, who is still alive but terrified. While they are trying to leave, a Polk sees them. He wants to kill them, but Audrey shoots him first with a gun she found inside the farm. Outside, the last of the living Polks has injured Dylan. He sees the Last Colony coming because it’s the last day of full moon. Scared to death, he takes the car and drives away, leaving Audrey, Monet, and Lee behind.

As American Horror Story 6×09 continues, Audrey and Monet run back to the house. They have the camera Lee was looking for: She put it next to Dylan before running away from the colony. Monet and Audrey watch the video recording in which Lee confesses she killed Mason.

Meanwhile, Lee is in the woods, trying to find shelter. She’s wounded and can’t walk. Suddenly, we see the Witch of the Wood approaching. She asks Lee to join her.

All the while, the three obsessed fans are back in the forest, looking for the house. They stumble on Lee and try to approach her, but Lee immediately kills Todd. Sophie and Milo run away and find Sidney’s camper. Sophie tries to call the police to tell them their friend was killed by Lee, but no one is willing to believe them.

The pair sees what’s going on inside the house on camera, including who’s dead and who’s still alive. Monet and Audrey are discussing the video of Lee’s confession, and Lee is approaching the house. Sophie and Milo decide that they have to save Monet and Audrey – and they want to stream everything live with their phones.

In the meantime, Lee has reached the house. Audrey and Monet are surprised to see her there, as they thought she was dead. Lee starts to tell them that Monet and Audrey don’t belong there, and their presence is vile. She kills Monet. Audrey manages to run away, but Lee finally kills her.

Sophie and Milo reach the house and see the Lost Colony approaching – with Dylan with them. He’s still alive, but not for long. Our friends decide that enough is enough, and they have to run away. Lee is right behind them, and they are now surrounded by the colony. Things are not looking good in American Horror Story 6×09. Ultimately, the colony literally sets them on fire.

The next day, when the police finally arrive, the scene in front of them looks horrible: Sophie and Milo carbonized, Dylan dead. While they are searching the house and the premises, they find other bodies and hear a sound. It’s Lee. She’s alive but completely hysterical.

After following another sound, the police find Audrey, still alive. When Audrey sees Lee, though, she takes a gun from a police officer and tries to shoot Lee, but the cops kill her first.

In the end, Lee is the only survivor of My Roanoke Nightmare. Ironically, this murderer is the only one who manages to escape hell. Accepting the Witch of the Woods’ invitation saved her life, but what’s going to happen to her now that there is just one more episode left? Have the police found the tape of her confession?
