What happens when a Grimm meets a Lycanthrope?
Read on to find out in our recap of Grimm 5×14, “Lycanthropia.”
In the middle of the night, Nick gets up and, while Adalind is asleep, he puts the box containing the magical stick in a hidden spot inside their house. And while he’s there, he tries again to open a door he had discovered when he first moved in with Adalind and Kelly. This time he’s lucky – he manages to open the door. Behind it, a very deep tunnel.
Nick, Hank and Wu have to investigate a new case in Grimm 5×14. A man named Doyle Baske drove his car into a tree, but he was found unconscious far away from his car. He said he was going to get help when he was attacked by a guy with a big dog. Paramedics did find scratches all right, but not dog bites. More like human. Doyle was also covered in blood, but not his own. Nick and Hank talk to him, but Doyle keeps on repeating the same story about being attacked by a dog. He says he has to go to his mother, who’s waiting for him, so Nick and Hank drive him to his mother’s house.
Elsewhere in Grimm 5×14, Renard and Adalind meet to talk about Diana. Renard tells Adalind about the night Meisner was in the helicopter with Diana and the King, and that after, Diana was handed over to the Resistance. While talking about her daughter, Adalind becomes obviously very nervous and the signs of her powers are coming back. Renard notices that immediately, and tells her that if Nick finds out that she is a Hexenbiest again, things may not turn out so well.
Nick and Hank investigate the Baskes, and find out they are a very rich and old family from Portland. The property where Doyle’s mother lives has been in the family since the late 1800s. Wu has the results of the blood samples taken from Doyle’s shirt: It’s all human blood, not dog. Nick thinks Doyle might have been attacked by some kind of wesen.
With the help of Monroe and Rosalee, they head back to the place where Doyle had his car accident. They want to find out if a wesen is involved, and see if they can trace back Doyle’s steps.
Rachel asks Renard to meet, and when she leaves her house, someone is watching her: Eve. After she leaves, Eve gets inside her house. Once inside, Eve finds something – a poster, the one Rachel showed Renard as part of a future campaign to make him Portland’s next mayor.
Monroe is still following Doyle’s trail when he finds the dead bodies of two campers. Monroe suspects a Lycanthrope might be involved in the attacks. He explains Lycanthropia is like a wesen disease – a genetic mutation which presents itself on rare occasion in Blutbaden (Monroe’s kind of wesen). It manifests only during the three nights of the full moon. Assuming Doyle is the Lycanthrope, there are still two nights of the full moon left.
Renard tells Nick and Hank to bring Doyle in, lock him up, and see what happens. Nick calls Rosalee and Monroe to ask them if there’s any kind of sedation, and Rosalee says she has something in mind.
Meanwhile, Rachel meets Renard and insists once again that he has to commit to becoming the new mayor of Portland.
Just when Monroe and Rosalee arrive at the precinct with the tranquilizer for Doyle, Eve calls Nick and tells him she’s waiting for him outside. She wants to talk to him and Hank. Once they meet, Eve shows them the poster she found in Rachel’s house and points to the shipping date of the poster – four days before Dixon was assassinated. Hank and Nick can’t believe that their captain knew about the plot.
Just as Nick, Hank, Monroe and Rosalee are about to go and take care of Doyle, Wu informs them that someone bailed him out. They manage to stop Doyle before he leaves the precinct, but when he woges inside the interview room, they realize he is not the Lycanthrope. It’s his mother.
They all run to try to stop Doyle’s mother at her house. The hunt begins. Mom-Lycanthrope attacks Wu and her son tries to calm her down, but as she is about to attack her son too, Wu and Nick shoot her and kill her.
In a dramatic end to Grimm 5×14, Wu finds a scratch on his leg when he gets home that night. It’s a small one, but what if it came from the Lycanthrope? You know what the legend says, right? If a Lycanthrope wounds you…
