“It’s not light that we need, but fire.”
Grimm is finally back with its fifth season, and we soon discover that who we thought was an enemy might not be the real menace after all.
Read on for our recap of Grimm 5×01, “The Grimm Identity.”
Trubel has just killed Juliette in front of Nick, when a group of Chavez’s men break in Nick’s house and kidnap Trubel. Nick is drugged, and when he wakes up, Juliette’s body is not there anymore. It has been taken away, along with Kelly’s head, to hide all the kidnappers’ traces.
Nick calls Monroe and Rosalee to tell them everything that happened.
Hank arrives at Nick’s house to help him. Nick tells him about Chavez’s intentions to use Trubel, who’s a Grimm, to help her go after Wesen.
Captain Renard is informed by Hank about everything that happened to Nick.
Meanwhile, Nick goes directly to see Chavez at her FBI’s office, but obviously she denies all of Nick’s accusations.
Renard is worried, and tells Nick he can’t go near Chavez in public, making those sort of accusations. He tells him to take some time, otherwise he will be forced to suspend him, or worst, if he goes again near Chavez.
Nick is convinced neither Hank, nor Renard believe him about what happened in his house, and about Chavez.
Nick finds Chavez’s address, and so does Wu. Monroe says he’ll go pay Chavez a visit. Him not being a cop will make it less official. In the meantime, Rosalee tries to find out more about this secret organization Chavez is part of.
Nick refuses Monroe’s help when they meet at Chavez’s house. It’s clear Nick wants to do everything on his own.
When Chavez comes back to her house, Nick is waiting for her. They fight and Nick has the confirmation that she is Wesen. He kidnaps her, and brings her to Rosalee’s shop. It’s clear Nick can’t do everything by himself, and his friends are there to help him.
Adalind is about to have her baby. Her, and Nick’s. Adalind is at the hospital, but somethig is wrong with the baby.
While Nick is at the hospital waiting for news about Adalind, Hank calls him telling him Chavez has something to tell him. She says if he goes with her alone, he will get the answers he needs. Nick accepts. When they arrive at the place where Chavez was supposed to meet some of her people, they find they’re dead. Suddenly, three Wesen appear, and they attack Nick and Chavez. She is injured, and before dying, she tells Nick “they” are coming from everywhere. It’s war.She gives him a chess piece, a black Knight. Nick keeps her phone, after he answers it. The call came from Meisner, the member of the Resistance who had helped Adalind, and who was there when Diana pushed Frederick out of the helicopter.
Back at the hospital, Nick tells Adalind he will be there for the baby, and she tells him she thought about a name for their baby: Kelly.
