As a huge Ryan Murphy fan who’s seen every episode of every show he’s ever done, I was excited for Hollywood on Netflix by default. Featuring a star-studded cast that includes Patti Lupone and Darren Criss, the series follows a captivating story of the golden age of Hollywood and what could have been. I’ve always been fascinated by the old-school ’40s Hollywood era, and I was confident that Murphy wouldn’t disappoint.

Although my expectations were high, Hollywood not only raised the bar but entirely demolished it. Here are 10 things I especially enjoyed about this delightful Netflix treat:

On Friday, May 1st, Canadian rock band Courage My Love released their sixth EP, SPECTRA. It’s their first release since 2017’s Synesthesia and subsequent walk away from Warner Canada; all of the songs on SPECTRA were produced and released without a label. The band has been releasing songs off the EP since June of 2019 with the single drop of “Teenagers” (which we reviewed at the time), but the release of Courage My Love’s SPECTRA includes three tracks that at least I have never heard before!
I’ve been listening to Courage My Love since 2015, and although their sound has changed and grown a lot since then, they are absolutely still a band I love listening to. I’m thrilled that they’re continuing to make music and excited for them to be doing it on their own terms. Check out the track-by-track review of SPECTRA after the jump!

This past Thursday, Canadian rock trio Courage My Love released their latest track, “Teenagers.” It’s their first single since last October’s “Remission,” which was a fun, poppy follow-up to 2017’s album, Synesthesia.
Their Breakfast Club-themed video dropped the following day, which singer Mercedes Arn-Horn co-directed. Check it out here:
The song itself is a banger, a ridiculously catchy pop-punk earworm you’ll be singing for the next three weeks straight. I myself have had it on repeat on my way to and from work every day since release, no regrets. It sends me screaming right back to high school…

90s Night with Danny and Mike
Do you ever just want to go back? No, not to the future. To the 90s!
Artie. Mr. Tastee. Petunia. The Petes. Growing up in the 90s with Nickelodeon as the first network for kids was an underrated and unique experience. The Adventures of Pete & Pete was a show far ahead of its time that didn’t pander to kids and had awesome guest stars like Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, and Steve Buscemi.
Hey Sandy
Pete & Pete delivered a quality series that was both pure and entertaining. It captivated audiences for three seasons and continued to gain a cult following over the years. It began to represent a yearning for the genuine content the likes of which we just don’t see anymore. #GingerPower
Series’ stars Michael C. Maronna and Danny Tamberelli are hitting the road for an ultimate 90s celebration of all things Pete. 90s Night with Danny and Mike is stopping at 11 cities throughout the month of September, the event promises a fun-filled night of meet and greets, script readings, Q&As, and more.
