Read on for our exclusive interview with Anna Marie Dobbins:
What motivated you to initially pursue acting?
Anna Marie Dobbins: I sparked an interest around age 13. I was bred a dancer, as my mother owns a dance studio, so I have always loved performing. Around the age of 13, I wanted to give TV/film and acting a go, so I sought out my first agent, booked a couple of roles, and the passion began.
Is there anyone you would love to work with someday?
Oh man, there are so many. One of my role models is Reese Witherspoon. I love her genuine personality and work, so doing a project with her would be amazing!
Can you tell us about your character Melissa in Stalked By My Doctor: Patient’s Revenge? What originally attracted you to the role?
Melissa is a good student, friend, and daughter who has a loyal heart. She wants to do what’s right and sticks up for her friends and/or teachers. She is your all-American girl who works hard to achieve her goals, pushing beyond extremes for what she feels is right even if it is taking justice in her own hands.
I loved the role and script. I was able to have fun with Melissa’s character as she has some fun twists and turns in the movie that allowed me to dive into some fun opportunities to take her character to the next level.
How was the experience working alongside the cast?
They were all amazing. The first time meeting Eric Roberts was in dance rehearsal. This was great for me – as I have a dance background and he does not, this put us on the same playing field for a moment. I was able to help him with the dancing and he helped me with tough scenes in the movie. Eric is the set’s jokester – he was always making everyone laugh and pulling fun pranks. You can definitely tell that he loves his job! His wealth of knowledge and his vast experiences just made the entire project worthwhile. I learned so much from him.
Lifetime is known for creating intense dramas that are full of suspense. What can viewers expect from Stalked By My Doctor: Patient’s Revenge?
Exactly that. It will keep you guessing and on your toes until the end! Super fun movie!
Lifetime movies are some of my favorites to watch on a free weekend. What are some of your favorite movies and series to binge-watch on a night in?
Depends on my mood. One of my favorite “go-to” series when I need a good laugh is The Office. My favorite drama series is The Crown. My favorite genre of film and television would have to be horror. I love a good psycho-thriller that makes me yell at the TV the whole movie!
You also have an impressive background in dance. Do you enjoy when you get to incorporate those skills in your projects? What do you enjoy most about dancing compared to acting?
Of course, I was bred a dancer, it’s in my blood haha. I also have my degree in dance. It is something that goes hand in hand with acting as it is just another art form for expressing yourself. I can always rely on dancing to be a great “escape” if I need one!
Expanding upon that, you also take the time to give back to your community. Can you talk to us about your philanthropic work and why it’s important to you?
I have always had a passion for giving back and learned that from my parents. I teach dance at an after-school program for underprivileged kids who otherwise couldn’t afford it. I love working with these kids of all ages. Everyone deserves a chance to train in what they love. If you are able, why not help those who are in need? Everyone has something they can give, whether that be time, money, etc.
How has the fan support been for you so far? Do you enjoy interacting with them on social media?
They have been wonderful. I was lucky that there was already a following with this film and fans who love it. They have been very supportive and encouraging. It’s all you can ask for in a fan!
What else are you working on? What can your fans look forward to from you next?
I just wrapped on a horror web series for Crypt TV that should be airing in a couple months! I will also start pre-production for a film I am shooting this spring. Many fun things ahead!
