It’s been five months since season 3A of The Fosters ended with The Fosters 3×10, “Lucky,” so you’re forgiven for not remembering where the heck we left off. Before The Fosters 3×11, “First Impressions,” airs Monday, Jan. 25, here’s a refresher:
1. Callie & Brandon are outlaws in love.
In episode 3×09, Callie – certain she would no longer be able to get adopted by Stef and Lena – slept with Brandon while visiting Idyllwild. In the following episode, Callie found out that her adoption was still possible after all and wrestled with whether to tell Stef and Lena about what happened. She and Brandon shared “I love yous” and, while standing in the kitchen together looking out at Lena’s parents’ anniversary party in the backyard, vowed to keep quiet and let the adoption proceed unhindered – but will their agreement last?
The season 3B winter promo suggests not. “That’s how secrets stop being secret – when you tell people,” Brandon says to Callie in the first few seconds of the promo. Later, the two of them have a brief exchange that implies they’re no longer on the same page about how to handle the situation:
Callie: I’m sorry, I thought we were in this together.
Brandon: We can’t be in this together.
2. Connor is going to live with his mom in Los Angeles.
And really, who could blame him, given his father’s consistent disapproval – and sometimes outright intolerance – of Connor’s relationship with Jude. Is this the end of Jonnor? “Nothing is gonna be the same without you,” Jude tells Connor in the promo. Cut to Connor with tears in his eyes. Cut to me yelling “NOOOOOOO” like a calm and rational individual.
3. Stef has a clean bill of health – or does she?
Stef had a health scare in The Fosters 3×10 when her doctor called with news that her mammogram results were inconclusive and she needed to be re-tested. At the anniversary party, she got another call revealing that the second test was all clear… but is that really the case? The official Freeform press release for The Fosters 3×11 reveals something to the contrary: “A serious medical issue for Stef results in a clash of opinion between her wife, Lena, and her mother, Sharon.” A whaaaat?
Also, actress Teri Polo cut her hair:

4. Mariana & Mat are on the outs.
Sleeping with Wyatt wasn’t Mariana’s smartest choice, and her relationship with Mat paid the price. In The Fosters 3×10, Mat told her he wasn’t willing to get back together, but is that the end of the Matiana story? The promo shows that Mat appears in season 3B in at least some capacity, so we’ll see…
5. Jesus is back – he just looks a little different.
After Jake T. Austin left The Fosters at the end of season 2, his character, Jesus, spent season 3A at boarding school. Actor Noah Centineo will be portraying Jesus in 3B, and although he only had one scene in The Fosters 3×10, it was an intriguing one – Jesus revealed he couldn’t go back to school, although the jury’s still out as to why.
6. Callie got adopted.
Ummmmm, FINALLY. It was touch and go for a while there. First, Callie’s recording of Carmen lying about Rita hitting her also contained the revelation that Callie and Brandon kissed on Lena and Stef’s wedding day, although Rita found a way to keep that little tidbit of information quiet. Second, there was that video Callie posted on her Fost & Found app that named and shamed a local judge. Third, there was the whole Brandon thing, which Callie swore was over in court – and those are just the obstacles that came up in the most recent two episodes.
