American Horror Story: Hotel 1×03 – Mommy – Recap

Mothers take the stage in this new episode of American Horror Story: Hotel. Moreover, we find out that The Countess has an enemy ready for revenge.

Tristan goes back looking for James, he wants to talk to him. He tells him he was right, killing is awesome. James tells him that there are secret spots in the hotel that have been neglected for far too long, and that Tristan could make a good use of them. While they are talking, they hear someone talking. It’s Claudia, who’s touring the hotel with Drake. Drake wants to use the old floor in which James “lives” as a new part of his atelier. James is obviously upset about the idea, but Tristan says he’s got nothing to worry about, he will take care of Drake.
Back in her room, Claudia goes to sleep, but she is assaulted by Gabriel, who kills her.
Tristan tries to kill Drake, but The Countess stops him. Later, she tells Tristan about how she lost all her money and the hotel. She tells him that Will Drake can’t die, not until she manages to marry him… and thus get all his money.

Alex remembers the disappearance of her son Holden. We find out she tried to kill herself. We also find out that Alex is undergoing therapy sessions with her family. They talk about Scarlett’s encounter with who she believes to be Holden. Alex thinks Scarlett is trying to hurt her, by telling her she saw Holden alive. Scarlett tells her parents again about how she first saw her brother. And there is a detail about him that seems to shock Alex, the fact that Scarlett said that Holden smelled like lavender. That’s exactly the smell Alex remember Holden used to have when he was only a little baby.
Later, Alex shows up at the hotel to give John the papers for a preliminary divorce proceedings. John is very upset and begs Alex not to do it.
While Alex is trying to leave the hotel, she sees first Claudia all covered in blood, and then a kid. It’s Holden.

John is working on another case. Journalists of a gossip website were found murdered in their offices. John is sure they were all killed because they were making money out of lies, so they broke a commandment.
When John goes back to the hotel, he finds Gabriel all covered in blood, asking for help. Later at the hospital Gabriel reveals to John that Sally is responsible for his condition. Shortly afert, Gabriel dies. John goes right back to the hotel, to check Claudia’s room. He finds Sally who tells him that Claudia checked out. John questions Sally about Gabriel, but she just asks him why he’s wasting his time on junkies, they are not important. She says: it’s not like breaking one of the Ten Commandments. When he hears that, John arrests Sally. But before he can take her out of the hotel, she disappears.

Donovan and Iris have a serious fight, in which Donovan wishes his mother would just kill herself.
After that, he leaves the hotel. On the streets, he tries to assault a woman.
He wakes up in a house, where that woman is cleaning his blood. She tells him she used to be an actress, in B-movies. Her name is Ramona Royale (Angela Bassett). One day, she met The Countess at the Hotel Cortez. They became lovers. A few years after, though, Ramona fell in love with Mo, a rapper, and she wanted him to live forever, as The Countess did with her. But The Countess couldn’t allow that, so she killed Mo.
Now Ramona wants revenge, she wants to make The Countess suffer by killing the kids who live inside the hotel. Ramona needs someone to help her get her revenge, and Donovan is going to be the one.
Iris asks Sally to help her die. But Donovan, who now has realized he needs his mother, brings her back by making her drink his blood, as The Countess did to him when he died.
