Rather than spilling oil, tonight’s episode was all about spilling the truth. From who framed Cliff Barnes to J.R. switching the land deed to Elena stealing J.R.’s letter, tonight was all about honesty — and we can thank Elena for that (she definitely showed her true aka darker colors). How did all of the lies, deception and blackmail get sorted out?

Who Framed Roger Rabbit Cliff Barnes?
For what’s supposed to be a time for receiving support from family and friends, Drew’s funeral turned out to be more a truth session. First, Elena admits to knowing the Ewings framed Cliff Barnes for J.R.’s “murder”. Of course, Bobby, Christopher and John Ross are all privy to the truth, but Pamela, Sue Ellen and Ann are not. Let’s just say they’re not happy. After a lot of yelling and scornful looks, Elena shows them the land deed given to her by Cliff (how do we know this land deed is even real?) and demands the money they made off of her family’s land, a piece of Ewing property and to pardon Cliff. If not, she’ll turn them in. This girl sure knows how to blackmail — I guess she learned from the best. It’s also important to note that Elena also confesses to knowing Nicolas (aka Joaquin) from her childhood days, but more on that later.
Hell Hath No Fury Like Five Women Scorned
So we know Elena and Carmen are furious, but now we have three more angry women: Pamela, Sue Ellen and Ann. First, Ann tells Bobby she could have helped protect him if he told her the truth. Also, she thinks he’s a hypocrite for calling her a liar. Bobby’s response? “No one can stop me from protecting this family. Not even you.” Well, this is one relationship that’s not healing quickly. As for Sue Ellen, she wants to know “who really shot J.R.” Bobby won’t give up Bum’s name, but Sue Ellen isn’t an idiot. She confronts Bum about killing J.R., and realizes it’s not Bum she has to forgive, but rather J.R.
Moving onto Pamela. Once again, John Ross lied to her, but now she might be able to take the Ewings down thanks to Elena. Bobby gives into ALL of Elena’s requests, in addition to giving her an apology. Elena gives Cliff the good news, but now Cliff is swearing to “wipe the Ewings of the face of the Earth.” With a worried look on her face, Elena visits Pamela. Not only does Elena inform Pamela that the piece of land she asked for was the piece Jock Ewing took from Pamela’s grandfather, but she gives Pamela Cliff’s pardon. Per Elena, the Ewings have hurt both their families and now it’s up to Pamela: she can either use the pardon or burn it, but she must know Cliff vows to destroy the Ewings.
Let the Battle Begin
Now that the Ewing men know Nicolas is truly up to no good (minus the fact that he’s working the drug cartel), they have some revenge up their sleeves. First, Bum informs John Ross that Nicolas sent the video of him and Emma to Pamela. John Ross’ response? Tell Nicolas that Elena slept with him to get J.R.’s letter (Elena previously told Nicolas she stole the letter at work). Christopher digs up an old box of letters exchanged between him and Elena, resulting in the discovery that Nicolas is most likely Joaquin. He’s not going to back down until they figure out Nicolas’ true agenda. With all of these revelations, Nicolas and Elena decide to get away, but not before Nicolas makes a mysterious call to a new character named Victor (Max Ryan) about an IPO. As for the Rylands, Emma still wants the cartel to lock up her daddy, but that might not happen now that Emma knows Harris is working the CIA to take down the cartel.
Quotes of the Night:
“From him [John Ross] I expect lies. You. I expect better.” -Pamela to Bobby
“Bum, if I should lose these wondrous eyebrows of mine, please don’t tell Sue Ellen. She and her tweezers have been circling around these furry devils for half a century and she would just be devastated if she thought chemo got to them first.” -Bum to Sue Ellen (in the words of J.R.)
“You’re not the one that got away. You’re just gone.” -Christopher to Elena
“I understand you wanting justice for what J.R. did to your family. But the Barnes/Ewing feud is a whole other beast and it doesn’t involve you. You want to take that dog for a walk? Fine. But if it bites somebody, it’s because you let it.” -Bobby to Elena
“You broke my heart today, Elena.” -Bobby to Elena
“I was shocked too. Who knew Elena could be such a thieving whore?” -John Ross to Nicolas
Most Shocking Moment of the Night:
I know this is going to shock a lot of you. Prepare yourselves. Are you ready? It turns out that not only was Bum J.R.’s righthand man, but he’s also — wait for it — a painter! That’s right, Bum can paint and he even designed that portrait of J.R. Who would’ve thought Bum has great talent? (My apologies for anyone expecting an earth shattering reveal here, but I couldn’t help myself.)
