We are only on the second episode of season 3B of Switched at Birth and this show is wasting no time at all getting right down to things. Plots I thought would drag out for most of the season developed twists, turns, and endings tonight. There was one major twist that I didn’t see coming and I was on the edge of my seat for the entire hour!
Read on for our recap of Switched at Birth 3×13: “Like A Snowball Down A Mountain” below:
Right off the bat, Bay tells Tank that she wants to go back to being “just friends”. I thought this plot was gonna drag out until a few episodes before the finale. It’s very clear to Tank that she’s breaking up with him and he doesn’t take it well. What’s not clear to him, is why? He lashes out and it’s not pretty.
It’s even worse for Tank when he goes to visit Bay’s house and runs in to her dad in the driveway. If you recall, last week, John found evidence that Bay took the emergency Morning After Pill. He is pissed at Tank and blames him for it happening. Although shocked at this verbal lashing, it dawns on Tank exactly why Bay decided to leave him in the first place.
Bay focuses the majority of her attention this episode on Emmett and how best to get the dirty pictures away from Matthew.
“It was a tasteful junk shot!”
Knowing where the combinations are kept, Emmett breaks in to Matthew’s locker to steal his laptop and delete all the goods. He is not expecting what he sees. There are tons of pictures of Emmett all over the laptop. At first, I thought he was stalking Emmett and this kid was nuts. But then they find the letter. A letter to Emmett that Matthew never sent that details his real feelings. Those kind of feelings. TWIST!
Over at the Kennish household, Kathryn is shooting a cover for Parade magazine and it features a handful of hot, shirtless models. Not a bad way to spend your afternoon. Her good mood is spoiled when she hears that good old Sarah Lazar is messing things up again. She has filed an injunction to stop Kathryn’s book from being published. Will she succeed?
Regina and Daphne continue to get used to living with Angelo and I am really enjoying the scenes of him learning to sign. It’s so cute! Daphne is having a pretty good day. The head doctor at her clinic promotes her to a paid job as his assistant. This is great news! To everyone but Campbell.
Now, I’m a little surprised by the douche moves that Campbell pulls in this episode. He’s being such a wienie. He’s jealous and quite frankly, believes the job should have gone to him, because he was there longer. Daphne and him argue over it and by the end of episode, he transfers to a clinic across town and says he’ll probably be too busy to visit her. Sheesh.
Now, the escalating plot with Regina had me on the edge of my seat this entire episode. When leaving her store, Regina is frightened by a hooded individual watching her from his car. At home, she is further alarmed when she gets mysterious hang up phone calls. Thinking that Angelo may not be enough to protect her, she enlists the help of her boss, Wes, to teach her how to handle a gun.
That’s not going to end well, is it?
