Pretty Little Liars is back and is once again promising answers. But will we get them?
Read on for our recap of the season 5 premiere of Pretty Little Liars:
Pretty Little Liars 5×01 “EscApe From New York” kicks off mere moments after the events of the season finale. If you don’t remember, let us remind you. Good ol’ Ezra was shot by a masked gunman. Ezra is being carted off in an ambulance while the girls hold a frantic Aria back.
A IS REVEALED TO BE…SPIDERMAN. Literally sprawled on top of the ambulance and hitching a ride to the hospital. I should have known what I was in for at this moment but alas. No one notices this creepy masked figure all in black just lurking around the hospital, which is, by the way, loaded with cops guarding Ezra’s door. Mona says it all this episode.
“This changes everything.”
- Alison is alive.
- CeCe has escaped from the police and is fleeing the country.
- Melissa has a huge secret.
- Mona is building an army.
Mona and Lucas are working together to form Mona’s Army. Like Dumbledore’s Army but extremely bitter. Mona is apparently not as reformed as we thought and she doesn’t seem thrilled that Alison is back. Also in this army? Paige and Melissa. Along with a bunch of other “losers” that have been personally victimized by Alison. What are they up to?
Why is Melissa involved? What is her big secret? Who killed the girl in Alison’s grave? And why is her father getting drunk and nervous. In fact, he looks angry. Why does he want Melissa to be quiet? Is he involved? Side note? Mr. Hastings is looking fine.
While the girls are hiding out from A, CeCe shows up and we get a few mini answers. CeCe killed Wilden, she was never Red Coat, and Ezra was paying her for information. Alison gives her her Vivian Darkbloom passport and helps her flee to France. Bye.
The girls think they’re being so clever in this episode. I almost feel bad for them. They try to set a trap for “A” by letting Alison be bait. Then A finds her and speaks.
“Wanna Play?”
Whoa! Am I watching Scream? Then like 20 other hooded figures show up and I just didn’t know A had that many friends. This is, of course, not the last we see of this hooded figure. In fact, the person who shot Ezra is about to be un-masked. Are you ready?
IT’S SHANA.
Ugh. Are they seriously trying to tell me that Shana is A? Please. Shana is getting justice for Jenna or something. She locked them in the lodge. Meh. Who cares. Then Aria shoves her off the stage of the theater and she falls like, three feet and dies.
Are the girls as safe as they think? Of course not. But I can’t wait to see what happens when they return home.
