No shame. I love some good dance music. Let’s face it, before the bubblegum pop exploded in the 90s, the best and most fun music was all the dance tracks that dominated the radio at the time. That’s why I’m stoked to present you with our latest music review. Ready Never have released their first album “Eleutherophobia”. Again, if you love some good EDM music, you’re going to love these guys.
Combining different sounds that consist of catchy electro-pop, EDM, and rock music, this group has crafted what they describe as EDM Rock.
“We wanted to write songs and make electronic dance music. But we wanted to be able to perform the music, not just play it back; which is what makes our live sound quite different from our studio sound.”
Described as “a satirical take on modern pill popping society; an anthem, sarcastically celebrating our love for pharmaceuticals”, Ready Never’s lead single “Take That Pill” was the perfect first choice for me to listen to on this bright almost-Spring day. It’s classic EDM, it’s fun, it’s catchy, it’s full of life and I’m jealous of everyone who gets to hear and enjoy this live. I’m already contemplating blasting this when I work out later.
I’m seriously jamming. I haven’t been this eager to listen to the rest of an album in a long time.
The next track I took a listen to was “Casualties“. Immediately, the catchy beat has me bopping my head. I’m very curious to see how this song is going to build. I’m not at all surprised that it continues to be awesome as the chorus comes and goes. The key change towards the end really seals the deal that this song is staying on my playlist.
I think “Casualties” may be my favorite with “Take That Pill” coming in as a close second. Rounding out the top three is “Assistant Press Play“. I feel like this song will and does work better live. This would be the one track that reminds me of groups like Daft Punk. This isn’t at all a bad thing considering how they cleaned up at this year’s Grammy Awards.
If one thing is certain, 2014 should be a big year for Ready Never. They’re too good for it not to be. The group is currently planning to tour Japan and perform at various festivals and events. Even better, they have plans for a new album.
Ready Never have a very large online presence and fans can keep up to date with them through a variety of outlets as seen below:
