1. Could you introduce yourself?
Hi, I’m Mercy Merce Ukpolo. I’m 26 years old, a corporate manager and from Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
2. How did you hear about the show and what made you audition?
I came across the ad and immediately believed the qualifications resonated with who I am as a person. They were looking for strong leaders, tenacious individuals, fun, outgoing individuals, as well as strong competitors. So I applied for it and was thankfully voted on by America to be on Opposite Worlds.
3. What was your reaction when you found out you were America’s pick?
I was overjoyed and just so excited for what would come next. I felt unbelievably grateful and humbled to have been chosen by viewers in the first place. It was an incredible feeling.
4. Did you have a strategy walking into the game?
My strategy was to assess the other competitors’ strengths/weaknesses, immediately identify who was fallacious, and ultimately utilize my physical as well as analytical skills to advance in the competition.
5. What were you doing before the show came along?
I have been in corporate management since I graduated from college. I truly enjoy working with people and leading a team to success.
6. How did you get started acting and modeling?
I have been acting since I was five in various school plays and modeling just came naturally when I got older. I have ten plus years of theater training and plan on pursuing entertainment to showcase my versatility in commercial acting in tv, film, movies, hosting, voice over work, cooking, writing, and motivational speaking.
7. Who were you closest to from either world on the show?
I was fond of the entire Epoch team but as far as Team Chronos I would have to say Lisette.
8. Did you have any issues with anyone on the show and why?
Honestly, looking back each cast member played the game the way he or she believed would further advance his or her time there. My personality may not have aligned with every single person there but that’s what makes diversity so incredible and I embrace it daily. All of the strong personalities made for an unforgettable experience.
9. Are you still close to anyone since the show is over?
Yes I have nothing but love for the cast and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. We all are conversing via social media outlets.
10. After you were eliminated who were you rooting for to win?
was definitely team JR. Anyone who can make it to the end with a hurt ankle is definitely a smart competitor in my book. Plus he is a sweet guy who is wanting to start a life with his fiance and I thought that was wonderful.
11. Which challenge was your favorite to compete in and why?
None of them. I truly wanted some real ‘blood sweat and tears’ competitions that would show true athleticism. I’ve ran track and cross country all of my life…it would have been great to showcase my speed and endurance. Hopefully season 2 will produce that.
12. What have you been doing since the show?
I have been hanging out with my family enjoying the festive Mardi Gras season in New Orleans before heading back to California.
13. What should we expect from you next?
am so thankful for the exposure NBC Universal gave me via Opposite Worlds and I will utilize my business background to propel my experience into a credible career in entertainment, motivational speaking, cooking, and writing. What God has for you is for you and this is something I’ve prayed about since I was a little girl. Hopefully Syfy will grant me a few cameos on OW S2 to show everyone how to #TurnUpMercyMerceStyle. I would also love to be on a celeb type Big Brother, Apprentice, etc next.
14. Would you like to say anything to your fans/supporters?
I love you all and please let casting directors, producers of your favorite shows know on social media that you want to see me on screen again!
