Callie is heading home this week, what do you think the response from the family will be? Also what will happen for Jude’s birthday? Continue reading for all the answers to your questions in our recap of The Fosters: “Us Against The World”.Right off the bat we have an amazing scene between Callie and all of the girls from the house. They all share their fears of going home and what they learned from each other. Really touching scene. Almost made me tear a bit. I hope we continue to see story lines involving them all.
Callie returns home, Marianna is super excited about this. You can tell Jude isn’t really sure how to feel about her being home and whether or not to trust her. He decides to go finish a book report instead of talking with her. Brandon tells Callie that he has decided to move in with his dad to sort through everything. You can tell she is upset but I think it was a really good decision. Too many temptations when you are only a room apart.
Stef and Lena present Callie with a cell phone, which has a tracking device in case they ever need to find out where she is. She realizes that it will take time for her to earn back everyone’s trust.
There is a brief moment where Callie is looking at Brandon’s empty room and you can just see it in her eyes she feels upset and guilty. Such a memorable moment for me. It’s such a tough situation for them both but I think so far they are handling it remarkably well for teenagers.
Stef receives court papers that she will have to testify at the case against Mike. She decides to come clean to Lena about what really happened the night of the shooting.
While getting ready for school Brandon runs into Dani (Mike’s sleepover friend) and you can tell he is uncomfortable with his dad having a girl over that way and trying to be sober. Fun fact, Marla Sokoloff, who is playing Dani was all over the 90’s tv scene in shows such as Full House, The Practice, Party of Five, and many more.
Marianna and Callie return back to school. Marianna tells Brandon how she feels guilty about the whole shooting situation because if she didn’t contact Ana it never would have happened. She debates contacting Ana but Brandon tells her to stay away. Chase invites Marianna to the cast party from the play.
Brandon skips class and gets invited to a party. Anyone seeing the connection?
Meanwhile, Jude has been getting clues first in his backpack, then his locker, and then a girl brings cupcakes to his lunch table. We find out that his birth certificate was messed up when he was born so he has a secret birthday that only him and Callie know about. Him and Connor later find more clues at his house. He can’t quite figure it out yet. I think the clues are a super cute idea though. I am going to have to steal that plan sometime.
While being questioned by the district attorney’s office Stef tells the truth about the shooting even though that means she could potentially lose her job.
Brandon meets with Ana and basically pays her off, with the money that is supposed to be for his piano lessons, to recant her statement about the shooting. She takes the money and does just that. Mike and Stef find out that the charges are dropped and that their jobs are safe. They will be being watched closely, however.
Marianna, Callie, and Zach all go to the cast party together. Brandon ends up at the same party. Kelsey continues to try and make Marianna look bad in front of Chase. Talaya gives Marianna the advice to make a bold move. Bad decision taking her advice. We have seen in the past she is a bit crazy. Marianna gives Chase her panties and tells him to meet her upstairs. Of course he shows up and wants to do a little more than making out. Marianna is clearly very naive because she thought she could just give him her panties and expect to just make out. I mean he is a teenage guy.
Brandon tells Talya the truth about him and Callie’s wedding kiss. She gets all upset and confronts Callie about it in front of people at the party. Brandon finds Callie outside and she asks him not to make a big deal out of Talya calling her out, she understands her anger. They are both having trouble keeping their feelings towards each other inside. You can see the awkwardness in their conversations but they continue to keep it cool. We will see how long that lasts and if it continues to go this well.
Callie wakes up Jude for his birthday. The gift she had been leading him to with the clues was the book Hansel and Gretel, their mom used to read it to them when they were kids. Callie also told the whole family about Jude’s secret birthday and they have a celebration set up for him downstairs. She tells him they don’t have to keep secrets anymore because they are a family. Love that moment. She is finally letting her guard fully down and accepting these people into their lives 100%.
Right at the end of the episode we see Brandon steal Lena’s keys for one of the school offices. Looks like he is going to make those fake id’s after all to get his dad’s money back. That isn’t going to end well I am sure.
On a side note Jesus did not appear in this episode at all. I wonder where Jake T. Austin was during the filming of this episode.
This season just keeps getting better. Can’t wait for next week to see what happens! From the preview it looked like temptations arise for all members of the Foster family.
