DANG. Normally, the previews can be a little misleading for an episode. Not this week. We got all the fireworks we were promised and it was awesome. Make sure you have the popcorn ready.
Read on for our recap of season 3 episode 6 of Switched at Birth: “The Scream“.
Right off the bat we learn that Bay (Vanessa Marano) didn’t just cut her hand. She cut two tendons in two fingers. That is not news you want to hear if you’re an artist who needs her hand. And of course, Bay, being the stubborn lass that she is, isn’t resting it properly. She is, however, reconsidering her relationship with Miles AKA Tank AKA Max Adler. Girlfriend has eyeballs. She can see that he’s cute, sweet, and a great catch. And he likes her.
But then why isn’t he inviting her to a big frat party that Mary Beth was invited to? Bay is able to drag it out of him following a few kisses that the party is actually a “dog fight”. The guys hold a competition to see who can bring the ugliest girl. Wow. What a bunch of dbags. Mary Beth is so pretty. Bay is pissed and gets huffy about how Tank would want to be a member of such a group but really, he can’t control the way others act. He can only do the right thing himself. And he does try and Bay forgives him. I’m liking him way more than Emmett.
Daphne (Katie LeClerc) tries to juggle her feelings for both Jorge and Campbell (RJ Mitte). When she learns that Campbell may spend his 21st birthday alone, she vows to throw him a great surprise party and invites all his snowboarding buddies. Hold up. 21? Why are all the girls on this network dating older guys? Daphne’s mood is soured when she sees that Campbell’s ex girlfriend showed up to the party and she’s not so thrilled with Daphne. Daphne worries even more when she learns that Campbell suffered brain trauma that can get worse with a fall. She pleads with him to cancel his snowboarding trip and succeeds in her mission. Unfortunately, she couldn’t hide her feelings for Campbell in front of Jorge. Who will she choose?
Renzo (Alec Mapa) is throwing Kathryn (Lea Thompson) a swanky party to celebrate her book deal. The same book deal that Kathryn is keeping a secret from John (D.W. Moffett). She can’t quite admit that she’s writing an erotic novel based on the lives of John’s friends. Honestly, this should be the least of her worries.
The rest of the family is enjoying the murder mystery party that Renzo has thrown together. Regina (Constance Marie) is worrying about whether she should tell Kathryn that she saw John and Toby’s stepmom Jennice kissing when Kathryn was out of town. Luckily for Regina, she doesn’t have to ponder this for very long. Kathryn overhears John and Jennice talking and things promptly hit the fan. In fact, Kathryn kicks John out of the house (how does that work? Doesn’t John own it?) and John is forced to move in with his son, Toby.
