So far this season has been full of twists and turns. Continue reading to see what happened in this weeks episode of The Fosters entitled “Padre” .So let me just start off this recap by saying as soon as the episode starts and the theme song comes on I get pumped. It is such an amazing song that truly defines the show. It is called Where You Belong by Kari Kimmel if you dvr and fast forward that part be sure to listen to the song!
If you missed last weeks ending, we were left with Stef finding her dad dead in his home. This week we see the whole gang deal with the death of a loved one and try to keep everything together through the funeral.
Jude finds Marianna upset in the bathroom, this is her first funeral and she doesn’t really know what to expect. They discuss whether or not they believe in heaven and Jude sure hopes there is one. He is just an amazing little boy, handles things so well for being so young. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters. We also see Jude call Lena mom for the first time, she is so touched by this.
Stef finds Lena’s prenatal vitamins and immediately becomes upset, she doesn’t understand why Lena wouldn’t come to her with such a big discussion. If I were Lena it’d probably be hard for me to discuss this as well considering everyone, including her own mom doesn’t support this decision. Towards the end of the episode they do have an opening for discussion. We will have to see where this leads next week.
Lena and Mike try to hide a newspaper article from Stef about the shooting. The article basically blames Mike and says he murdered the man, making the man seem innocent. Stef finds out about the article and of course goes and reads it. We later find out that the DA’s office wants to file charges against Mike which could cost him his job and put him in jail. Hopefully it doesn’t get that far for his sake.
Marianna and Callie continue to bond and you can see Callie starting to realize how much she misses this family. Callie tells Marianna about how when their mom died Jude flipped out. Callie continues to have memories of the time around her mother’s death. Later on Stef and Callie bond over the emotions they both had about their parents passing. They both were not on the best terms with their parents before they died.
Brandon and Callie come to some big decisions in this episode. At the beginning we see Brandon wanting to tell the mom’s that they are together but Callie doesn’t think it is the best time. Brandon finally realizes how much Callie has to give up for him. Callie decides that she really needs this family, meaning her and Brandon can’t be together. They are both sad but they know it’s best for both of them.
Jesus’ friend Emma comes over and brings some food her mom made. We see them becoming closer and talking. While they are together, Lexi video chats Jesus. He did not want to answer but Emma does for him. Lexi seems thrown off by the other girl next to her boyfriend. It is pretty clear something is going to happen between Jesus and Emma. It’s just a matter of when.
Jude, Marianna, and Connor decide to use a Ouija board. Not a great idea if you ask me. Marianna asks it about a boyfriend for her and who it would be. It gives her the letter Z, for Zach maybe? Jude talks to the board like it is his mom, and asks for permission for him to become adopted. Connor pushes it to yes…or at least that is how it seems. He is such a good friend to Jude. I look forward to seeing their friendship continue in the future.
Callie loses her mom’s necklace which causes a melt down of sorts. Jude and Callie have a conversation and Callie remembers that is was her who broke down after their mom’s death not Jude. She was feeling guilty because she wasn’t kind to her mom the night of her death. We learn that their dad is in jail for drinking and driving and killing their mom, and others. Luckily, Brandon finds the necklace. Callie decides she wants to come home and tells Jude.
I think this episode answered a lot of questions from previous episodes but also leaves us with a lot more. I mean what will happen once Callie comes back home? Will her and Brandon be able to leave their feelings behind? Hopefully they can because Callie is really starting to open up and we are seeing more of her character’s emotion. I like it a lot. What do you think will happen with this?
