Are you ready to go under the sea? Once fans are finally going to meet Ariel!
The episode kicks off with a frightened Snow White running, once again, from the Evil Queen’s guards. Attempting to outrun them, Snow jumps into the ocean. Somewhere between the cliff and the water, Snow loses consciousness. Conveniently, she wakes as Ariel (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), our favorite little mermaid, swims up to save her life.
The girls bond for awhile and Ariel tells Snow about Eric (Gil McKinney), a man she has fallen in love with. Long story short, Ariel can get herself legs for 12 hours until the next high tide because of an urban myth that goes by the name of Ursula. The girls attend Prince Eric’s ball (in hideous dresses I might add) and Snow encourages Ariel to speak with him. Prince Eric asks her to dance (where’s Max?) and about 30 seconds in, asks her to run off with him on a trip around the world. Talk about love at first sight.
Regina pops out of the sea, pretending to be Ursula. Phew. So relieved that horrible accent wasn’t real. Well, you know the drill. Ursula will grant Ariel permanent legs at a price. This time, the price is Snow will become a mermaid instead. Ariel thought she was helping but has really just fed Snow right to the Queen. Wanting to save her new friend, she stabs Regina in the neck with a dinglehopper. Not wanting to lose completely, Regina swipes Ariel’s voice.
Back in Neverland, Hook tells the Charmings that Neal may still be alive and the necessity for a new quest has begun. Snow is unable to keep the secret for longer than 5 seconds and before you know it, the group is trudging along to a Cave of Wonders. Neal is inside.
In order to get to Neal, the group must reveal a dark secret. Pan is really twisted. Hook’s secret is his feelings for Emma and his ex-love. Snow’s secret is her disappointment that Emma is already grown up. She wants another baby. (If I was Emma, I’d be a little offended.) Prince Charming’s secret is his near-death experience and that he is stuck in Neverland forever. Emma’s secret is her love for Neal and how she doesn’t want to go through that again. Fear not! Neal won’t stop fighting for Emma, much to Hook’s disappointment. Anyone else disappointed with this love triangle? I was more interested in Hook’s relationship with Neal.
Regina has given up on the Charmings and has gone to hang out with Rumple. She has offed the weird vision of Belle (that was actually the shadow monster) and has asked Rumple to team up with her to rescue Henry. Because they are not able to kill Pan, they decide to sentence him to a fate worse than death. To succeed, they need something from Storybrooke. Regina summons Ariel to Neverland to do her bidding in Storybrooke. This should be interesting.
