Once again, it is our favorite part of Tuesday night. A brand new episode of Catfish. Can we hope for the same amount of sass as last week? Will any episode live up to that one? Did it crush the Mhessy competition?
Catfish Mike and Kristen Recap:
This week, we’re headed to Michigan to meet Mike. Mike is cute. Well, cuter than what we usually get so I guess we can’t be picky. Will this one be Michigan Impossible as Max puts it?
This coupling is a bit out of the ordinary for Nev and Max because Mike is about an hour and less than 40 miles away from Kristen. Mike began talking to Kristen on Facebook and within a month, began dropping the Love bombs and even started talking about how many kids they’d have. I’m not sure which one of them should run away. Mike doesn’t seem like the ~brightest bulb in the tanning bed which is why I’m not surprised he sent Kristen nudes..including his face. Max’s amusement says it all. Never include your face, bro!
In case you were wondering, Mike “practices” sex before marriage.
Kristen tells Mike that she was involved in a car accident that left her with a glass eye. Assuming she’s lying, that’s a really weird lie to tell. Especially considering she sends Mike pictures where you can see both her eyeballs.
The Search
Nev and Max begin by calling the beauty school that Kristen allegedly attends. Nev name drops himself to get info. Very nice. There is a Kristen enlisted but they won’t release her last name. They do a few reverse searches and come up with an address to a farm registered to a Kristyn Hillock. However, with some more googling, they discover a MyLife and Facebook page for a Kristen that completely matches up. The only thing different is the last name. Hillock. Even more interesting, there is a Kristyn Hillock registered at the beauty school. At this point, all they do not have is photographic evidence.
When Nev and Max meet up with Mike, he’s so offended that she would lie just about her name that he wants to walk away from the whole thing. However, he realizes he won’t get his proper 15 minutes unless he goes through with it.
The guys set off in search of a yearbook to get some concrete evidence on Kristyn’s appearance. The picture they find seems to suggest it’s a different person. We need to know for sure so we’re off to meet “Kristen”.
The Meet Up
Kristyn comes outside and she’s a heavier girl. She didn’t lie about her eye or her accident, just her appearance. She gained weight after her accident and wanted to kill herself as a result. Mike looks like he couldn’t care less.
She thanks him for getting her through everything and he shakes her hand goodnight. Since her accident, Kristyn doesn’t say goodbye because “it’s forever.” This episode is so sad! She doesn’t seem like a bad person to me.
He’s nice to her face but once he’s in the car he deletes her from his phone and says he never wants to see her again. Cold. Doesn’t look like there’s a future for Mike and Kristen.
When Nev and Max return to talk with Kristyn, she reveals more about her accident. She was forced out of high school after missing so many classes for her surgeries. The subsequent drugs they put her on caused her weight gain.
What is even worse about this story is that Kristyn had a boyfriend who was driving the car. He wouldn’t see her for two weeks and when he did? He broke up with her and told her to “Have fun looking like a pirate.” What a DICK.
I was hoping Kristen would lighten the mood but I was not expecting her to pop out her eyeball so Nev can hold it.
I’m very happy that Nev and Max go back to see Mike to make him feel guilty..even if it doesn’t seem like he does. He seems like he wants a medal for saving her life.
The FlashForward
Mike says he still talks to Kristyn since filming ended.
Kristyn has a boyfriend now and her and her family are all moving to Orlando, Florida. Her family is buying a salon and she’s ready to start her life. Good luck, Kristyn!
