Get ready for some answers! Sort of. As is always the case in this show, when you’re given answers and reveals you are still left scratching your head for the remainder of the night.
Here is our recap of tonight’s episode of Pretty Little Liars: “Face Time.”
Recap:
Three out of four of the girls seem to have a lot to worry about this episode. Aria should feel lucky. All she had to endure in this episode was running into Ezra’s kid on the street.
Emily’s dad comes home from the army to deal with his family being investigated by family services. Emily’s parents demand answers from their daughter about the lies she has been telling and how she really injured her arm. Emily is under a lot of pressure. She just found out that she may not be able to swim again. Her options are to attempt rehab and rest but surgery may be necessary. She ends up screaming at her parents, who seem more concerned with that she will lose her scholarship for swimming than anything else, and bolts to hang out with Paige. When she returns, the cops are once again at the house investigating a domestic disturbance. A is such a bitch. Did she plant a fake x-ray?
Hanna is concerned because Officer Holbrook means business. And now he has an equally creepy partner. The duo is spending their time investigating why trouble seems to follow the girls. The majority of their focus, for the episode, seems to be on Hanna and her mom. If Ashley is as innocent as she claims, why does she look so guilty? I want to take this moment to give Caleb a golf clap for finally pointing out how stupid the Rosewood police are. Hanna feels like the only way to save Ashley is to throw Melissa under the bus.
Speaking of Melissa, she’s the focus of the second half of the episode. Spencer hilariously sets a trap with some witty narrative to go along with it. Once Melissa finds the mask, she makes her way back to Hector’s, where she leaves with a huge bag full of mask castings. There are a ton of Ali masks left over. What for? She proceeds to smash and destroy them before throwing them into a lake. These are not the actions of an innocent girl with nothing to hide. Spencer and Aria follow her to the location and Spencer finally confronts and demands answers of her sister. While Spencer is doing this, Aria learns that Alison was owed money from Hector and begged for it in a panic, before ultimately dashing away in someone else’s car.
Question and answer time! Melissa claims she has been protecting Spencer all along and the NAT club has nothing to do with anything. It’s a tiny, speck on the radar that is the saga of their lives. She claims Wilden and her had the same costume on the train but that they were all scared of Wilden. She then claims she sent Jenna and Shana to keep an eye on the girls and see who they were meeting. She alleges that Wilden started the fire.
When Spencer asks about the deaths of Wilden and Garrett, the scene ends and the next time we see Spencer, she’s alone. Melissa is gone. And probably will be for a while. I’m left more confused than I was before. We can, however, add Melissa to the list of people who believe that Alison is still alive. Can we now add Toby to that list as well? Toby goes to visit with the doctor who saw his mother. He is now a patient and his perception of things is a bit fuzzy. What he does recall however, is that he wants Toby’s mom to stay away from the blonde girl with the bad air around her. Dun dun dun.
Is Alison still alive? Did Melissa kill Garrett? Or Wilden? Did Ashley do it? Do we believe any of Melissa’s story? Who is she so afraid of and why isn’t she A material? If she was trying to protect the girls, why did she call them “bitches” who were finally going to get what they deserve? Who was Alison getting into the car with that day? Why did she need the money so badly?
See? So many questions.
