With their new star stuck in Cuba, the team has to scramble to come up with a proper presentation for the investors. Until furthur notice, Karen will be the understudy. Karen is thrilled. Sad Ivy is sad and singing Breakaway in the streets. Meh. She’s a fantastic Marilyn though.
And she knows it. She starts to play nice to somehow worm her way back in to the show. She even encourages Derek to be nicer after he acts like a total tyrant to Karen. Tom stands in during a scene and he’s amazing! Seriously, can we just give him a part? This was probably one of my favorite performances on the entire show to date. He’s a natural. His boyfriend doesn’t love it so much. Or how close he’s getting to a certain dancer. He breaks up with him. Good riddance.
Eileen worries when her investors get restless about the show and goes to drown her sorrows in martinis and a hot bartender. He just happens to have some money behind the counter. And he’s friends with a rock star named Randy Cobra who basically lines his mattress with millions that he’d love to throw away. Looks like we have an investor.
Karen lets slip to Dev that Derek sexually harassed her on her first day. This is not something he wants to hear as he’s walking home to discover Derek walking out of the apartment. He had just shown up to apologize to Karen for everything he’s done to her. It just doesn’t help that she’s in her underwear. They get in a huge fist fight outside and Karen breaks it up with the least amount of emotion I’ve ever seen. I don’t think her face even moved.
Who do you want to be Marilyn?
