Sad news for Green Day fans. Following the incident at the iHeartRadio festival where the band performed this week, the band’s rep announced today that Billie Joe Armstrong will be entering rehab for substance abuse. The news comes after producers at iHeartRadio cut Green Day’s set short for Usher and Rihanna, prompting Billie to flip them off, curse, and smash his guitar to pieces.
I was Team Green Day then and I’m Team Green Day now. If Billie is struggling I’m glad he’s getting help and we sincerely hope he gets better.
Note to self: Do not piss off Green Day. Especially because they deserve all the respect in the world. Then again, I’m a huge fan. iHeartRadio? Not so much. In a move that could only describe the sad state of music today, the people at iHeartRadio allowed Usher to go 25 minutes longer than scheduled and decided to cut Green Day’s set to make up for it and allow Rihanna to take the stage. Billie Joe Armstrong understandably gets pissed and lets them know exactly how messed up it is.He tells them off, flips them off, smashes his guitar, and uses a lot of his favorite word.

From the source:
Green Day’s 45 minute set is cut to 30 minutes by iHeartRadio to make more room for Rihanna and Usher [Usher’s set went 25 minutes longer than it was meant to] so Billie Joe armstrong stops halfway through Basket Case to play a new song only to realise that they have 1 minute left on the stage. He gets angry and complains before smashing his guitar and flipping the camera off during Green Days set at iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas.
Eonline is reporting that Billie Joe Armstrong will be guest starring on Nurse Jackie’s fourth season. He won’t be playing himself but the tweet announcing it calls him a new cast member. Will he be recurring? That’d be awesome and I’d have to start watching.
Info on who he will be playing:
“[JOHN] (Male, 45) He is a badass, has a tattoo that says No Regrets and is a drug user who meets Jackie one night. He is chasing after that ultimate high. Has kids and a wife who don’t talk to him anymore.”
No futher details yet, but it appears Billie is partnering up with Edie Falco for at least one scene in the fourth-season premiere. Executive producer Richie Jackson tweeted out an on-set photo of the two, saying, “Edie and our new cast member @BJAOfficial! Wait til you see the season premiere!”
