The Asterino Sisters are four sisters from Columbus, Ohio. Their names are Sydney, Paris, London, and Brooklyn. While growing up, the girls were drawn to creating stories, poems, and writing plays with their cousins. Their career began when their mother decided to get the girls together for a special memoir music video. The girls traveled to Los Angeles for their first video and the rest is history!

1.Could you introduce yourself and your ages?
-Hi, Pop City Life! We are the Asterino Sisters, a group of four sisters (well obviously) who harmonize and whose goal is to inspire others with our music. Sydney is the oldest, a senior in high school, and 18 years old. Paris is next, she is 16. London is 13 and in her last year of middle school, and Brooklyn is the youngest at 8 years old.
2.When/how did you begin performing?
-We started officially a few years ago when our mom brought us together to film a professional ‘memoir’ music video in Los Angeles. It was such an amazing experience and we were all so shy going in. Afterwards, however, we decided that maybe being a harmonizing sister group is something we would like to establish in ourselves- I mean… we’re going to be living with each other forever so why not make the most of it. Our mom was musical growing up and she was able to show us the ropes of creating harmonies, being confident on stage, and fueling our determination. She’s amazing, really- and we are so blessed to have her as a guide.
3.Do you guys do any original songs or strictly covers?
-Original music is something we’re working on! It’s so easy to jot down ideas and record a little bit of a song, but putting it altogether is what takes the time. So, that’s what we are currently working on. Each of us (including Brooklyn) is writing music, practicing instruments, and developing songs. We aspire to create many quality albums and hope to improve our skills with each one.
4.Who are your biggest musical influences?
-Whenever a question like this is asked, the first thing that pops into each of our minds is the word “Mommy” (yes, we all call our mom Mommy, and our dad Daddy). Our mom is the one who gives the pep talks when we are feeling discouraged, the one with years and years of musical background, the one who knows her way around the business industry. As mentioned before, we are so blessed to have her as a guide. Some big names in the music business that are our musical influences include Marina and the Diamonds, One Direction, Demi Lovato, and One Republic. We like Marina for her lyrics and ear-catching melodies. We love One Direction for their brotherly bond and relate -ability (let’s pretend that’s a word), Demi Lovato is on the list because of her amazing vocal range and determined personality. One Republic has amazing lyrics and melodies and inspire us to write with a variety of instruments in mind.
5.What are some of your favorite tv shows?
-This is weird, but we don’t watch much television. When we do watch TV, it’s to laugh over the drama between Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato on the “x-factor”, or to relax in front of the Disney Channel. Sometimes, though, Netflix catches our attention for an hour or six. We can spend time being educational watching psychology documentaries, or the mermaid series called “H2O Just Add Water”.
6.What do you do when not music or performing?
-The four of us are online schooled. So, when we aren’t bothering each other over personal space, we are working on our studies. We all love school and work hard for great grades. It’s nice to have each other so we don’t slack off on work! Some of our hobbies are playing our instruments, such as our violins and flute, French horn, guitar, and drums. Sydney is into drawing, and spends some time drawing characters and faces. Paris likes to research other music artists or spend time researching random science topics. London spends time writing stories and tutoring Brooklyn. We love travel, spending time with our cousins, and brainstorming new ideas.
7.What are your favorite animals?
-Well, we sure have a lot of animals here at home. We’ve got sugar gliders (they are like squirrels, but have flaps of skin like bats that help them glide), hedgehogs, ferrets, five dogs, and a hamster. It’s never quiet here, as you may have guessed. But as far as favorites, we can all agree that we love dogs. All our life we’ve owned dogs. When we lived on several acres of land, we had 13 dogs at once!
8.If you could travel and perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
-Great question- and the answer is: Sydney, Paris, London, and Brooklyn. Really- wouldn’t it be just incredible to perform in a city you’re named after? Performing in those cities is a goal for our group. Besides those four cities, Paris has always longed to travel to Europe and visit Germany and Spain. The four of us each take Spanish, whereas London and Paris take mandarin Chinese, and Paris took a semester of German. As you can see, we’re travel geeks and in reality, would just love to travel everywhere.
9.If you could pick one magazine to be on the cover of, which one would you pick?
-We grew up reading the American Girl magazines, but since no 18-year-old has ever made it onto the cover, we’d love to be a part of Seventeen Magazine. What fun!
10.Where would you like to be in 5 years?
-In five years, we’d love to be touring the world, sharing our music with all that we can. In five year’s time, we hope to have albums out, a line of merchandise in full swing, and a sisterly bond that is stronger than ever. In five years, we want to still be together. We want to reach our goal of being the type of group that people can relate to and look up to.
11.If you couldn’t do music, what would you want to do?
-We’re lucky to be able to chase our musical dreams! But if we didn’t have music, we’d each be looking into the game of law. Both of our parents went to law school and made a successful career of it, and have proved that law is used everywhere, from opening a business, to signing simple contracts. We are also very interested in languages and travel, so we would have to be sure to add those aspects into our careers.
12.What’s your favorite song you have covered so far?
-For this question, we each have different personal preferences. Sydney’s favorite song to cover is our most recent- “Say Something.” This was a collaboration between Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World. Paris loved covering The Tokens’ “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” because she got to sing her high notes, and had fun performing it all over. London’s favorite song to cover was “Royals” by Lorde because she likes the way our group re-did the harmonies and the fact that Brooklyn is such a big part of the song. Because of the travel that we did for our cover of Glad You Came by The Wanted, Brooklyn says that she enjoyed that cover the most.
13.What should we expect from you guys over the next few months?
-First, you should expect an album! We hope to have one out soon, or at least an EP. We want to make the most of the time, so are each working hard to make these things happen. Also, we hope to tour around with our friends and collaborate with some big names in the music industry to add to our list of collaborations. Over the next few months, we hope to show you all our unique and determined sides!
14.What advice would you give aspiring performers?
-Simply put; find a source of fuel for determination, and carry it with you wherever you go. Aspiring performers need to stay optimistic and hopeful; understand that success is a turtle process, not a jack-rabbit process. Success will come to you as long as you are determined and take steps every day. Habits form out of time, and once you start seeing progress, you’ll know to never give up. And as cliche as it is, be sure to never give up on your dream.
15.Any last minute words to your fans and supporters?
-Yes- we absolutely want to thank every individual for your unwavering support and love. We see every comment and notice each thing you say. What we do cannot be achieved without such strong support-and it is incredible that so much comes from our supporters! We would like to give our thanks to Pop City Life for the interview, and we hope to talk again soon!
